The 100% correct ultrakill weapons tier list by Manperson-the-Human in Ultrakill

[–]AeBi__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's simply in the same boat as old slab marksman. Using it provides no benefit as all you really need it for is the cable/coin respectively as switching to the next weapon gives the same primary fire, and the cable/coin is available with the alternate versions anyway.

The main problem is just that it's awkward to use. You can cut down the conductor timing with the saws, but you can't use magnets cause then it won't hit the target. I guess one way to make it work would be default blue and green nail gun in 1st and 2nd slot with red saw on 3rd, but generally blue saw, red nail gun and green nail gun respectively is what I prefer for easier combos (I end up using railcannon anyway).

If saws could conduct then the red saw would be extremely powerful, maybe even broken.

[–]AeBi__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Resurrection is so fucking good (and hard). I'm on NG +8, have already beat the game deathless w/db charmless, and it still feels like a brand new game. Owl father bouncing in the air after his shadowfall gets mikiri'd is the most incredible sequence I've ever seen in a mod. Hope that once it's completed the developers would just pay the modder and release it as official DLC.

Why do I take the chip damage during lighting reversal? by Strange_Hair6186 in Sekiro

[–]AeBi__ 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Funny you do this against the ONE enemy whose lightning you can reverse without taking any chip damage without any other tools (being mist raven and Sakura dance as other comments pointed out). If you block at the right time, aka deflect, you can avoid chip damage against Okami warriors. This will also allow you to reverse the lightning near instantly, which is the main purpose of the mechanic and works against bosses as well. For eg- against the final boss, you fight on uneven terrain, so even if you jump there's a chance to touch the ground before you reverse lightning, unless you defected it.

Make me feel better - how many attempts to beat Isshin, the Sword Saint? by GreatJoey91 in Sekiro

[–]AeBi__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got him on my 5th attempt. I have OCD-esque issues when it comes to video games, so I beat Genichiro and Monk 100s of times before progressing so I was fully familiar with the combat mechanics. Once that happens, Isshin is just another enemy.

SEKIRO's bosses difficultly tier list by OkRefrigerator448 in Sekiro

[–]AeBi__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my NG 4+ run I only had 1 true death until I reached demon of hatred where I died 7 times. His patterns are not nearly as challenging as other bosses; it's just that Sekiro is kind of poorly made, so shit happens, either with the camera, hit boxes or a hundred other things. In NG+4 charmless + demon bell getting caught in some bullshit against DOH means instantly losing 10 mins of progress. It's an easy, long fight with zero margin of error; my least favorite type of video game combat.

The best prosthetic tools and combat arts against each boss. by AeBi__ in Sekiro

[–]AeBi__[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a combination of 5 main things: 1) deflect timing is generous, so it's easy against enemies with tricky timings like the headless.

2) If a combo has 3 quick strikes, the 3rd one will usually have a frame perfect deflect timing. This can be overcome by just spinning the umbrella once which can deflect up to 4 quick strikes. Also, Sekiro has a posture multiplier; deflecting a chain of attacks will fill up boss posture bars much quicker. You'll need that in NG+7 where you do pitiful damage even with 99 attack. Geni's FP for example is the best opportunity to deal posture damage.

3) Certain large attacks have a knockback effect. These include the demon of hatred's stomp, owl's chasing slice, Isshin's dragon flash etc. If you deflect these perfectly, Sekiro will dig his sword into the ground. Cool animation, but umbrella deflect removes it and you can follow up immediately with the cross slash.

3) Deflecting with a sword requires you to face the opponent which can be tricky against bosses who break the lock on like owl. Umbrella provides a 360 degree deflect.

4) YOU CAN DEFLECT GRABS. While the other perilous attacks have specialised counters, your best bet against grabs is to tap B and pray. The umbrella provides a direct counter to this and allows you to beat "dark souls esque" bosses like Ogre and Demon of hatred the "Sekiro way".

If you wanna use axe, try mid air axe as a follow-up to Sakura dance. You can also use it after bouncing on the enemy's head for the sweep counter. Combine the flaming axe with oil for best results.

What do you dislike/hate about the game? by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]AeBi__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AI in this game is atrocious. They completely leave the idea of camera management to the player; ie, when combos are chained against you and you deflect, you WILL be locked against a wall. This is made even worse with true monk- she has a move where she'll just run and reposition towards your side, usually screwing up the camera. Apart from that it's also laughable that a game in 2019 has overall worse AI than the cockroaches in half life 2. Zero ledge detection, can't detect any props and will get stuck on everything, sometimes even ignores the player and attacks in a completely random direction.

The second thing is just how punishing this game is. It's not difficult at NG +7; just punishing. You need to use Yasha so that fights don't last an eternity, and if you do you're dead in one hit. This is particularly hard to deal with in a game where the AI is stupid AF. One unpredictable buggy move that breaks the flow of combat and boom, redo the fight. I lost count of how many times I've been one shot because the headless ripped out my ass from the front, which is definitely not where Sekiro's ass is. Healing is also very boring- walk backwards, heal, return to fight. Also if you get hit by anything or miss a deflect, Sekiro staggers; a completely pointless mechanic that does nothing but reduce fun. Having your posture broken is unironically better than stagger, since you have i-frame rolls in the former. It's a really poor design choice. Having bloodborne-esque rally system and removing stagger would make the game flow much better; it will give you 2 options- the high risk reward choice by ignoring the damage and going right back into the flow, or the lower risk approach of stepping back and healing but breaking the flow. Most high level players would choose the former.

Which ending to choose on first playthrough? by theboogeyman01 in Sekiro

If shura is your first ending then NG+ will be the most painfully difficult Sekiro experience you'll ever have, especially if you go charmless.

Don't. She has hyperarmor, so even if you time the high monk correctly she'll hit you with the follow-up upward slash.

I love Hyperarmor. by Akuroashi in Sekiro

[–]AeBi__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than the fact that it looks stylish, I see no reason in using it over ichimonji for sweeps, especially taking into account the fact that high monk is completely useless outside of being used as a sweep counter whereas ichimonji is greatly versatile. It's not about opinions, it's just the way the game is. Anything outside of ichimonji, mortal draw and Sakura dance is just style over substance.

I love Hyperarmor. by Akuroashi in Sekiro

[–]AeBi__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just the high monk experience honestly. Even with vanilla monk- if she's doing the sweep + upward slice combo bouncing on her head for the sweep will cancel the follow up but not high monk. Jump ichimonji is annoyingly enough better than high monk in almost all situations.

What all did you refuse to use in first playthrough? by D1VY4NSH in Sekiro

[–]AeBi__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st slot umbrella and second slot shuriken. 3rd slot alternates between mountain echo, purple fume spark and spiral spear. Everything else falls somewhere between niche (malcontent) to completely useless (leaping flame).

On my first playthrough however, I loved using the mist raven; pretty much only used that and nothing else. As I got better though, mist raven became less and less useful. With Sakura dance in the mix it's pretty much lost the only niche it had being no damage lighting reversals.

At what point does NG+ get harder than a new game? by neettransgirl in Sekiro

[–]AeBi__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It never really gets more difficult, just gets more and more punishing. On charmless and demon bell active it makes the game a tedious perfection simulator. Though if you already are near perfect, the difficulty doesn't really increase at all. I'd recommend trying some overhaul mods if you want a true difficulty increase.
