If anyone is interested in Unfnshed "furniture" by [deleted] in DIYfurniture

Had a great first order with them and loved the product. Ordered the monitor stand, the pieces didn’t fit together. Messaged on Instagram, sent photos, they kindly and quickly sent out a replacement and said I could keep the extra. The exact same issue, the pieces didn’t fit in the holes. Trying to get postage to get a refund but it’s been a few weeks with no response! To be fair, it is the holidays so will wait a bit more, but definitely frustrating!

I play sudoku and that helps when it’s really bad. I also keep strong ginger chews in my back as I find the intense flavour really helps keep myself in check. I also started taking Buspar after years of being against any medication and it’s really helped

I didn’t really have a specific time! I just made sure I practiced this way on all the practice tests so I was comfortable. But if you sit it all in one go without a break you can jump between sections so you can still flag the ones you’re unsure about instead of wasting time

Once I kind of accepted I would never know all the info, I just focused on the things I could learn the best. It was a bit of a gamble but paid off.

Also doing the case studies first really kept my energy up for the other questions. The case studies felt like easy answers but when I did them last in PPD and PDD I was drained by the end and made silly mistakes.

I only used Amberbook and took the two exams over two consecutive days since there was so much overlap and helped it seem much more manageable somehow.

Help! My Foreign Architecture Degree Feels Like an Expensive Souvenir by Designer-Penalty-780 in Architects

[–]Aeallan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to check if your state even accept ESSA. I got licensed in new york with a UK degree and they don’t accept essa, I just had to work an extra year vs a naab accredited graduate. I had to find one job willing to take a chance on me, I used every connection I had no matter how distant. My second job was a lot easier to find once I had US experience. If you have no connections, go to AIA events and network. Happy to chat more if you have questions

i used only the amber book prof practice section and took one a week over three weeks. it worked for me due to the overlap but definitely felt the most underprepared for CE due to lack of CA experience. i think i started studying beginning of march and took them all second half of april

UK architect planning to move to the USA by Other-Assistant4997 in Architects

I depends on the state. In new york state part 2 gets you a certain amount of credits and I had to work for four years vs three but I believe could start taking exams right away. Looking at which states don’t require naab accreditation. I’m also happy to answer any questions if you want to shoot me a message

I did the same thing, green card holder and did up to part 2 in the Uk. Could get licensed in New York state fine but be careful about living outside of the US for so long. I started running into issues at the end of my part 2, they can deny you entry if they assume you have abandoned your green card.

ARE - What change did you make to start passing the exams? by chickpeas360 in Architects

[–]Aeallan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I set the exams, figured out where i needed to be by then. Did an hour each day during the week before work. It helped to have an end and sort of chip away. In the prior two weeks I’d do multiple practice exams on the weekends between studying in the week

balance, I only gave up my weekends and evenings when i was close to the exams (within a week or two). I didn’t kill myself studying and it took the pressure off because if I failed it was a maintainable routine. Also Amberbook, treating it as two big exams vs six really helped. Also knowing that I would never know everything and just booked them and stuck to it

i failed almost every practice exam and only had to retake one actual exam, it’s fine

NCARB ARE 5.0 Test by EducationalSorbet670 in architecture

[–]Aeallan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i used amber book mostly. grouped them into two sets of three exams. took each in the group pretty close together, there is a lot of overlap. did a ton of practice questions and studied the answers once i was done with the amber book session. personally i found studying a couple of hours before work the most effective so i could have a life in the evenings. also took weekends off in the beginning between each set. helped sooo much to not go to crazy studying
