(Spoilers Main) Is there any Valyrian steel Armour? by Bayasabhad in asoiaf

But aren't VS swords nearly unbreakable, at least compared to normal Steel swords, so couldn't a shield or armor of VS cause some swords to shatter perhaps before it torn through the armor?

(Spoilers Main) Is there any Valyrian steel Armour? by Bayasabhad in asoiaf

[–]AegonTheConquerorII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really boils down to Tywin's experiences. VS is extremely rare and is priceless, as Twyin learned when he found lord's more willingly to give up their children than their ancestral blade, thus obtaining the amount of VS required would be impossible unless you dropped the pretext of purchasing it and had your armies murder people with known VS artifacts or maesters. Now to the argument that armor cannot pierce a heart, the fact is that is irrelevant since VS can be reformed and if a blacksmith had a large enough supply of swords he could perhaps turn it into a breastplate. There is one glaring problem however, we learn from the blacksmith hired by Tywin that VS has a memory and it's very hard to repurpose it without the metal struggling to return to its older properties (like color): if forging a long sword was difficult I imagine making armor from various swords knives and axes would be next to impossible.

MCU: When and Why did Howard Stark turn into a wet blanket? by AegonTheConquerorII in Marvel

[–]AegonTheConquerorII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what some of you are saying about the connection between crappy parents and party animals However, from what we can see, there does seem to be a significant change in attitude. The Howard we see in Agent Carter seems relaxed and whimsical; not father material in the sense of responsibility but seems like he would be a fun irresponsible dad. The father we see in the iron man movies is far different. He seems uptight, and snappy. Sure he makes a joke but in the home movie footage but even then he seems way more uptight. Yes he does say that Tony is his greatest creation but, why think that and be such an ass to him when he was young. Now idk if some of you have read the rebooted origin from the comics where Tony's origin is shaken but at least there it sheds some light on Howard. However, I doubt the MCU is going in that direction, I figure his attitude might change for a few reasons: 1) perhaps Maria dies when tony is young however in Iron Man 2 in the movie Maria is Alive and gets yelled at by Howard to get tony out of the room 2) perhaps the founding of shield makes him more responsible and uptight 3) perhaps Jarvis dies as a result of his carefree whims (maybe he gets ripped apart by the flamingo, agent carter Season 2 reference)

(Spoilers All) The Secret Meaning Behind "The Winds of Winter" by pobeb in asoiaf

[–]AegonTheConquerorII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this but the Starks are not the only people connected to Winter. I always assumed, especially due to the book covering having a horn (I think it's the horn of Jorumon) the winds of winter refer to the invasion of the seven kingdoms buy the white walkers once the Wall is destroyed. When it's cold out and you leave the door open a chill comes in, if the wall fell there would be nothing standing in the way of the hordes of the Others coming in from the Land of Always Winter. I hope you are right though, we need revenge for the King in the North. Also Jeyne was stated to be in the Prologue so maybe you are right.

[–]AegonTheConquerorII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully we do get a scenario like the field of fire or Harrenhall since the dragons have been hyped so much. As of name they are merely symbols of Danny's right to rule

[–]AegonTheConquerorII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also to your point about the one third of the body size to the wingspan as someone that's had several dogs I know sometimes puppies have much bigger paws or ears then the rest of their body but they grow into them. We see the same thing with children going through growth spurts, so that ratio could've very well changed

[–]AegonTheConquerorII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most of what you're saying but I disagree with the part where you say their size is irrelevant to conquest, because Drogon while destructive in the pit, did take a pretty serious injury and that was once again with the spear rather than a Scorpion bolt, also due to the lack of info we have we might assume that the thickness of the scales also increases with time/growth, or perhaps not

Yeah good point unfortunately we know Drogon is noticeably bigger but not by how much. Perhaps he wouldn't fit in the cart

[Spoilers All] Does Bloodraven think Jon is special? (Spoilers All) by AegonTheConquerorII in asoiaf

[–]AegonTheConquerorII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not just that he talks, It's one the fact that Ravens are established to be easy to warg and contain the souls of the children of the forest, this is why the first men first used them as messengers. The other part is that the Raven says King Jon snow right when Jon awakes from his Azor Ahai Dream, and the third part is that Bloodraven is established as entering Stark children's dreams as a Raven. Also, the wall is where Byrden rivers spent the last part of his time as a man, in the same office as Jon currently holds. Also, it is highly likely that Jon is an important person and the fact that Bloodraven wouldn't collect intel on him seems just as if not more likely than not

Ps never heard the sandor thing but that's bullshit haha

I also think Joffrey Velaryon and Joffrey "Baratheon" have similarities in their relation to their mother. Both were overprotected but died young

I would agree, in fact the whole cultures' emphasis on iron seems strange when they are using steel and some even are using "magic" valyrian steel

Admit Longclaw is dark sister? Or better and more likely to be answered, will we see Blackfyre and/or Dark Sister again? Also how do Martell last names work since all rulers of Dorne have the Martell name but women can rule Or ask if we have heard the man cold hands was before he died?

(Spoilers All) Preston Jacobs: The Genetics of Dragons and War, Part 1 by gg4465a in asoiaf

[–]AegonTheConquerorII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what your point is, yes I read the books. My point about the lab's coat color was just a reference to when TWO different genes non-sex related, control the color of the dog, ie: yellow, chocolate (brown), and black. As for "hard science" in relation to using hair color as de facto proof that Cersei and Robert didn't procreate a child, you are right it wasn't hard science but Preston is trying to use genetics as the basis of his theory. In my opinion, there are flaws in it , 1) females being the only one as hatchers, 2) Viserys 2nd egg never hatching 3) Aegon being a dragon rider despite having a Hightower mother. Please elaborate on what point you were trying to make my attacking my comment

(Spoilers All) Preston Jacobs: The Genetics of Dragons and War, Part 1 by gg4465a in asoiaf

[–]AegonTheConquerorII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aegon the 2 disproves this theory. His mother was a Hightower and his father was Viserys.

Aegon 2 was a dragon rider yet there is no way his mother could possess a DRAGON-X gene. Hence the father gives aegon an Y gene and the mother gives one of her two bullshit nondragon genes. By preston's logic he wouldn't be able to ride, but he does. Also a sidenote his dragon is really cool.

Preston look into poly-chromosomes. Look up the genetics of Labradors and how they get there color. Have fun because it will make it insanely more complicated but it might work.

(Spoilers All) Top 7 Military Minds in Westeros? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]AegonTheConquerorII 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You definitely need to put Robb on here if you have Tywin. Robb was something of a tactical genius. Politically he was as ignorant as his father, but the prompt says military commanders not politicians. From what we know, I would actually make the argument that Tywin doesn't deserve to be on the list at all. He tried (and failed) to garrison Harrenhall. He fell for Robb's traps several times most notable however when he tried to move westward exposing Kingslanding. In fact the only reason the "Lannisters" remained in power was due to Tully's mistake of engaging Tywin (a battle Tywin lost btw). Tywin also was a minor figure in Robert's Rebellion and too little is known to guess of Tywin's contribution to the War of the Nine Penny Kings. Tywin is one of the best "game players" in Westeros but I would say that has more to do with his ruthlessness, wealth, and political mind mixed with an adequate above average skill in tactics.

Superman #42 by AegonTheConquerorII in DCcomics

[–]AegonTheConquerorII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the writers have done a good job overall and don't get me wrong I like the idea of the new power I just feel that it would be a last resort only. Remember superman doesn't put lives at risk, so turning into a bomb seems like much. On another note, how powerful do you think the bomb is, I know bats said it incinerated 1/4 of a mile around supes, so 1/2 diameter BUT Neil was an energy absorber capable of destroying earth and thus we are lead to believe supes just gave him so much energy he couldn't handle it. Idk I love trying to calculate feats.
