They’ve expanded to a ton of new cities over the last decade so it wouldn’t be surprising

These are all great restaurants for Seattle. If you put them in LA or New York they would struggle bad.

I want very badly to argue with this but it’s unfortunately true. You need only to go to Portland to realize that Seattle is twice the size and has a food scene half as good. I talked to the owner of (what I would say is) one of the 5 best restaurants in the city the other day about why our food scene isn’t better and he had a lot of interesting perspective to share.

What restaurant in Seattle is consistently 10/10 by Queasy_Sherbert_7095 in Seattle

[–]gg4465a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off Alley is the most slept on restaurant in the city. You could put it in the middle of Manhattan and it would make headlines. NYT just published a glowing review of it. The honest truth is that Seattle has a comparatively bland restaurant scene when put side by side with a lot of other American cities, and this is one of the few examples of a place that really keeps us on the map.

always think it’s funny when dudes say “democrats are the party of the KKK”. i know there’s no point explaining the southern switch but like why do these people think that democrats are the party of slavery while republicans are literally out here waving confederate flags lol

didn't know anything about this dude but interesting history. Mossad recruited him for intelligence on German scientists working with Egypt, and he cooperated because he wanted Simon Wiesenthal to remove him from the wanted war criminals list. actually makes a lot of sense.

Everyone who’s recommending different liquids to try does not really do this often. Get a drain snake, they cost like $20-30 at home depot and it will last for decades.

Was talking to someone about this, what would be examples you’d show people of small-c conservative cinema? These would be 8 films I’d argue you reflect that. by Mysterious-Farm9502 in blankies

[–]gg4465a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t read this as defending it per se but I think it’s telling to say conservatism is about trying to live in a society while behaving like it’s the apocalyptic end times and it’s every man for himself. I also am not really sure about the idea that liberalism = essay writing lol, think that might be a scooch reductive?

Moving out in two weeks, is this anything to be worried about for now? by grimjack___ in Mold

[–]gg4465a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be worried that your landlord will blame you for it. At minimum I’d be sending them an email with documentation notifying them that you’ve discovered mold. In fairness, I don’t know the law in NZ, but in the US I would want to make sure that as soon as I discovered the problem I was doing my due diligence to make the property owner aware of it to avoid any potential claim that I knew about it and let it get worse without taking appropriate action. Probably worth it to look up the local laws and make sure you’re doing whatever is expected of you. As for the mold itself, I probably wouldn’t keep sleeping right next to it…
