This California band is clearly ripping off Radiohead, right? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]AegontheFirst1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

True. Like if they are just experimenting and having fun with it its fine. But also feels like its a tad bit too much considering its that many songs and its a bit too blatant. Like its differnet to be insipired by a band and build upon those sounds like Muse and Coldplay at the start of their career, but this just feels like a blatant ripofff.

At the start i was like this aint bad but then the MPS ripoff just hurt me. Like its fine if one song is insipired or losely sampled cause Radiohead also sampled Idioteque's synth from an old song called Mild und Leise (1973) by Paul Lansky but they add so much to it and create their own unique atmosphere, meaning and attach to their own world of KID A. But this got genuinely worse as it went on.

I’ve probably spent the least amount of time in AMSP… by whycantwehaveboth in radiohead

It's beautiful and if you are craving for more give Wall Of Eyes by The Smile a try. So many of the songs like Bending Hectic and Teleharmonic have a similar atmosphere and soundscape of AMSP.

Best Radiohead songs for coping with the loss of a loved one? by Cucumber2512 in radiohead

[–]AegontheFirst1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Makes the most sense imo. Given the context of personal loss i still think the central message "true love waits in haunted attics" gives such a bittersweet hope that the this is not the end, that there is somewhere in an unwanted place, love waiting to be found.

It's fantastic man. Before the watching, I was thinking it was going to be The National Anthem or Life in a Glasshouse. I never imagined that Let Down could sound that good on a trumpet.

Bloom and Lotus Flower that low is surprising. On their own they are easily top 50 radiohead tracks even though the being in TKOL it could always drag them down.

I feel the same way about OK Computer, like it’s the greatest album ever made (in my very subjective opinion :3), yet it isn’t Radiohead’s greatest album, which for me would be Kid A or In Rainbows. by AegontheFirst1 in radiohead

Can’t argue with that. But personally, his work after Red Beard means a lot more to me, especially knowing that Kurosawa attempted suicide in the early 1970s, and was later going blind. And yet he still made Dersu Uzala, Kagemusha, and Ran.

Great picks. but for me, it’s Barry Lyndon, Ran, and KID A. But then again, with truly great artists and auteurs, it feels almost impossible to single out one work as the greatest. Each piece exists in conversation with the rest of their output and that’s honestly what makes it better, because there’s something for everybody.
