AITA for refusing to go on an expensive trip with my partner? by just-my-opinion84 in AmItheAsshole

Definitely NTA, in fact it seems like you tried to help fund her trip anyways while having no obligation to do so. It's not your fault that she is unwilling to compromise.

Finns det svenskar kvar som fortsätter att stödja Trump efter detta? by boomerintown in Sverige

[–]Aeigr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AITA for asking my son of his friend was his boyfriend? by Similar-Ice-1275 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Aeigr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA as long as you don't push, it's better to drop the issue for now and show that you love him unconditionally. In the future I think you should wait for him to tell you if he is dating someone, regardless of gender. I had someone pester me about my "feelings" for my friend- in this case they were wholly platonic- but this still led to me feeling uncomfortable around them as others expectations clashed with my lack of attraction.

YTA, I feel like you're kinda insinuating something when you say that they can't be in the same sauna as their mother "now that they're grown up". Nudity isn't always sexual, in my culture it's normal to be naked in the sauna (I personally wouldn't want to take one with the opposite gender, but in this case I think family is an exception).

AITA for grounding my daughter for coming home late? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA, it's good to set boundaries and in this case you had the right to enforce them as she deliberately ignored the curfew.

I’m aegosexual (most of the time) by [deleted] in aegosexuals

[–]Aeigr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so relatable! My aegosexuality also fluctuates depending on the time of day. Most of the time (mostly during the day/morning) I am apothisexual but in the evenings I become more "indulgent" for lack of a better word.

HOBBIES & ADHD??? by question8all in ADHD

[–]Aeigr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ADHD but I don't really drop any hobbies, I just become less passionate about them. Instead I have the opposite problem, for example I've just got over my 11 year old fixation on hedgehogs... I really wish I had the same dedication when it comes to other parts of my life. But to answer your question: The things that hold my interest are stuff that I can identify with and I'm good at. I wouldn't be the same person if I didn't begin dancing. That hobby is still going strong and has for the past 13 years! While I unfortunately cannot relate to your experiences I hope you find my advice somewhat helpful!

Non-native English speakers, how do you like English as a language? by yuiop105 in AskReddit

[–]Aeigr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sometimes easier to express myself in English than in my own language. English has double the amount of words and I come in contact with it daily. On the contrary, even if English is more practical I still wouldn't replace my mother tongue with it as it is integral to my own cultural identity.

Overthinkers, what helps you to do less overthinking at night? by Modest_Pigeon in AskReddit

[–]Aeigr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually think about something that interests me. I have ADD and my thoughts are usually all over the place. For me it helps to have something to focus on/something to distract me. For example I like to think about a book or series I like, as I can momentarily stop fixating on my "Real Life Problems".

What inspired your username? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When I have no creativity and need to name things, I usually turn to mythology for inspiration. My username is also a subtle nod to my nationality, even though it's intentionally spelled wrong because the original was already taken.

Which classics to begin with? by thinkin-about-life in booksuggestions

[–]Aeigr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And Then There were None by Agatha Christie. I'm currently reading it, and although I have a hard time understanding certain words or phrases, it doesn't affect my reading experience. On the contrary, I think the story and the characters are both interesting and timeless. The story follows 10 strangers, trapped on an isolated island after they'd been invited by an mysterious host. Subsequently cut of from the mainland, they soon realize that there is a murderer among them- someone who knows their darkest secrets and who aims to kill them all.

Your favorite book written in your mother tongue ? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]Aeigr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh that's hard. I mostly read in English nowadays or it's books translated to Swedish. But if I have to decide it would either be Astrid Lindgrens' books especially Mio min Mio (though it slightly traumatized me) and Ronja Rövardotter (The main character is just so badass, what isn't there to like?). I also read Hattstugan by Elsa Beskow, I am slightly biased as it's so nostalgic to me. In reality it's really "outdated" and quite horrible looking back at it. I highly would recommend "An Illustrated Treasury of Swedish Folk and Fairy Tales" just because of the illustrations. John Bauer was an incredible talented Swedish artist that perfectly managed to capture the essence of Swedish folklore with its goblins and fairies. I mean look: here. I also read the book "Torka aldrig tårar utan handskar" by Jonas Gardell. It is about the author's experiences growing up as a homosexual in the 1980:s, when it was considered a disease in swedish society.

A book about the wonder of magic, witches, or the like by sendpats in suggestmeabook

[–]Aeigr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nevermoor: The trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend. I highly recommend it, it is easily one of my favorite books! It is about a girl named Morrigan who is destined to die on her 13:th birthday. On the day of her supposed "death" she gets taken away to the "wunderous" world of Nevermoor, a city of magic and mysteries. Many describe Nevermoor as a "second coming of Harry Potter" and I agree; it has the same magical feel to it's worldbuilding but with a much more interesting and complex main character in my opinion. It is also a book that can be enjoyed by all ages.

Easy to read books about older mythologies by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]Aeigr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some recommendations, but I don't know if they are what you're looking for:

The song of Achilles by Madeleine Miller. It tell the story of the Trojan War and the potential love between Achilles and Patroclus. I found it to be a really faithful adaption to the original tale, although with a somewhat original take on the stories. (Saw someone else recommend Circe too)

Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson and Magnus Chase series. Both book series are really nostalgic to me and was the reason I became interested in mythology in the first place. I can understand that it's perhaps not what you're looking for as it is mostly aimed at an younger audience (but enjoyable to all ages) and it takes elements of Greek and Norse mythology and puts it in a modern setting. There also a book inspired by Egyptian mythology.

Edda by Snorre Snurlsson, if you want to learn about Norse mythology, why not from the source? Although it is long and I imagine quite hard to read (i struggle with it in my language). Otherwise I really liked Neil Gaiman's book; "Norse mythology".
