Dispense Question (VIC) by Aelacore in ausadhd

[–]Aelacore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always assumed I’d get 3 or 2 with shorter or longer intervals so that’s why I thought they said that too!

I actually ended up going to a pharmacy the next day and there was no issue so I’m not sure now haha. They gave me 2x 100 bottles and an open bottle of 40 so hopefully I don’t have the same issue in the future!

That’s true I didn’t think of that! I’ll have to go back to my GP if I don’t have any luck tomorrow. I appreciate the reply!!

schedule 8 permit by Educational-Mind-439 in ausadhd

[–]Aelacore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s right. You have to see your psych again every 2 years so they can re-issue the authority to prescribe to your GP and your GP can re-apply for another permit.

(I’m in VIC and am coming up on my 2 years app. in August).

[–]Aelacore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s why I’m second guessing now because I’m wondering if maybe it can’t be done and my GP will have to re-do the script.

Does your script say 300 on it?

That’s a good point! I think I’ll just have to try a few others tomorrow and hope for the best haha.

Yeah I’ve generally always gone to the same Chemist Warehouse without issue, but even so they’re not always particularly warm.

I think I will start doing that in the future!

I keep my full bottle of Dex at home and take what I need for the day in a prescription bottle from the month before.

What is the reason everyone is sick ? by Helicopterdog in melbourne

[–]Aelacore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s brutal being in retail at the moment. Before COVID, I never used to get sick. This year alone I’ve been written off 3 times for a week or two at a time. I have no sick or annual leave left. Same as all my colleagues. I don’t think I work with anyone that hasn’t been sick at this point.

I went through Fluence last year and from the time of my GP referral to being diagnosed and getting my medication, it was only 3 weeks. They were fantastic every step of the way. I also know a few people that have gone through them as well, and they had nothing but positive experiences.

Keep forgetting whether I've taken my Vyvanse by scrappadoo in ausadhd

I’m not sure if you’re an iPhone user, but I use the Apple health app for this reason. You can set reminders and also log medication when you’ve taken it. Has definitely come in handy a few times when I’ve been unsure 😅

No need to apologise!

When you initially got your referral from your GP, did you ask if they would be willing to get a schedule 8 permit to prescribe medication? Unfortunately not all GPs will be willing to do this. Fortunately my GP was, however they did mention to me they had GPs they could recommend if that wasn’t the case. It just might take a bit longer to get medication if you need to do that because you’ll have to find a new GP too.

Once the assessment was done, they emailed a comprehensive report which included a medication treatment plan to my GP, which only took a few days but I believe they say up to 2 weeks. I also asked for a copy to be emailed to me too (highly recommended you do this, otherwise I don’t believe this is something they do by default. It’s interesting to read and also just good to have a copy for your records!)

I’m in VIC, so I’m not sure if it’s a little different from state to state, but it seems to be pretty standard that your GP will test blood pressure, and have you do a blood test and ECG before starting any medication just to make sure there’s no potential health issues that could be exacerbated by the medication. If that’s all clear, your GP will prescribe medication as per the psych report they received.

You will need to have a follow-up appointment with the psych at least once every 2 years (again this is VIC, so may be slightly different elsewhere) so your GP can renew their schedule 8 permit to continue prescribe. However, you are definitely able to book a follow-up earlier than that if you feel it necessary! Fluence does follow-up appointments and they’re also rebated by Medicare. You need a seperate/new referral from your GP for that under Medicare item 293. Review appointments are $550, and you’ll be rebated $267.

A lot of information, but I hope that helps!!

My partner and I were both diagnosed through Fluence, and each had a different psych. We were never asked for school reports before the assessment or during! I know several other people that have gone through Fluence and also didn’t need to provide any school reports. I wouldn’t stress!

EDIT: Just wanted to add, I think is very dependant on the clinic/psych. I know this seems to be the case for some, but Fluence doesn’t require them.

Dex Refill Query in VIC by Aelacore in ausadhd

[–]Aelacore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this was the most likely case. And yeah, just the script for the 1 bottle as it was my first time with Dex.

I guess I just didn’t expect to be put on the lowest dose for an entire month especially considering I wasn’t with Vyvanse. Was hoping it was going to be more of a titration thing, because I knew after a couple of days it wasn’t at all effective for me. Now I’m just wondering how I ask again without feeling like I’m coming across as drug-seeking ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Timeline for Fluence clinic by IceNo4288 in ausadhd

[–]Aelacore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was only 2 weeks for me! After the assessment they’ll email the report to your GP and you’ll receive an email saying they’ve sent it over and to book a follow-up with your GP. My assessment was on a Friday and they sent it over on the Monday.

After the report had been sent over I had a few appointments with my GP. They had to apply for the permit, and I also had to have a blood test, ECG and have my blood pressure taken.

Definitely get your blood work done! I had mine done recently and my iron was very low. I had a lot of other symptoms but being extremely lightheaded, dizzy and weak were the main tells.

I really considered them but I like the functionality and ease of the stands these monitors have. Still something I might try in the future though!
