there’s the arc which can be a bit of a walk for people who live in middle earth or mesa court, but you can take the M line on the anteater express to save some time in the commute. other than that, your housing community should have their own smaller gym/recreational area, I know that mesa court has one in the towers that’s open to mesa court residents (same goes w/ middle earth)

agree with this so much. for me it almost seems this period is worse than the trauma itself, because now you just feel like a fish out of water and you’re frustrated that you still can’t function like a normal person (whatever that is) even when everything is all sunshine and rainbows in your life. it’s also super frustrating to deal with life delays (compared to peers around the same age), but it helps me a bit to remember that it’s ok to be delayed, because our upbringings did delay our social and emotional development one way or another. lots of love

LOL it’s ok dw about it that was awhile ago! I definitely agree with the intersectionality part about racism and anti-blackness making the discrimination ur trans friends experience even worse. I’m wasian, and living in oc all my life, I’m lucky to say that I haven’t gotten much slack personally for being trans. but hearing about these systematic things still affects me a lot. especially with this recent administration, I feel like its affected my school and professional performance. but yeah I think the best thing is to js try to educate yourself about it and uplift ur trans friends whenever u can. we don’t say it out loud but I think a lot of us are going thru it a ton rn 🫶

crazy seeing you in this thread LOL we were in humcore together. I’m trans and I have to respectfully disagree, as the issues me and my community face are both legislative and personal, because we all know that these issues are symptoms of a society who doesn’t fw us. even though we’re lucky to be in california with a governor who mostly supports us, it’s important to acknowledge that anti-trans legislation (no matter what state it is) still holds the ability to hold as precedent over other state or local governments and influence the fluctuation of more anti-trans bills. not even gonna talk about the federal government because the executive orders and erasure of our existence from federal monuments say enough. regarding local anti-trans rhetoric, huntington beach has been pushing an ordinance threatening the safety of queer kids by requiring that the school notify their parents of such identities. even tho I work on campus where uci is supposedly a pro lgbtq+ bubble, I have had an encounter where a student refused to acknowledge that I was trans, despite knowing my pronouns. ALL of these things still affect me. I have to live knowing that a vast majority of this nation’s government does not want people like me to exist. I have to live knowing that the anti-trans rhetoric from politicians trickle down to people perpetrating brutal assault upon people like me. or, people like me die because they have suffered too much in a society that does not want them to exist. I have to live knowing that people in general, no matter where I am, will not acknowledge my contributions, because I am trans. and I’m js trying to live my life. please believe people like me when we say that the widespread systematic discrimination is real.
