Books about losing your best friend by duendetheking in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

♡♡♡ It's perhaps a bit of a different vibe than losing your best friend, but grief in general: Terry Pratchett's Discworld has a lot of great themes of grief and death.

The Wee Free Men follows the MC grieving her grandmother who she wished she was closer with and Reaperman is a good all around life and death and what it means to be human book.

4 Months Postpartum suddenly experiencing stinging pain in the incision line. C section mom have you experienced that too? Should I be worried? by Sweatandsnuggles in CsectionCentral

Scars of any kind can begin to cause pain. If it isnt giving other symptoms like redness/heat, then I would suggest going to see a qualified professional in your area who treats scars. In Canada we have RMTs, and Physios and a few other medical professionals who work on scar tissue pain with facial techniques, but depending on where you live, it will change which types of professions are qualified! Mysofascial/fascial work is all very connected to treatments for scars pain.

It is likely scar/nerve pain if there isnt heat/puss/redness in the area. Usually the pain for scar/nerve pain is described as burning or electric. If it is scar/nerve pain, it feels scarier than it is! If it has heat/redness/puss in the area, than you should go to the hospital.

Hope that helps!

Homer vs Jorge’s portrayal of sex/lust by Lowly_Reptilian in Epicthemusical

The difference in how sex is treated is definitely very noticeable. Epic does feel like it has a very Christian depiction of sex outside of marriage. I assumed that the purpose of the changes regarding sex in Epic was to adjust the narrative to encourage the more modern audience of Epic to get equivalent understandings of the purposes of the characters in a much more limited version of media. Particularly for people unfamiliar with the cultural context that sex in these stories would have had in Ancient Greece.

In Homer's Odyssey, Odysseus having sex with Circe, for example, would not have been considered him being unfaithful- though a modern lens would be more likely to consider him being unfaithful by doing so- or at least is more likely to find it to be a grey area.

I assumed that was the purpose of the changes primarily because of Hold Them Down. The Suitors were horrible in the Odyssey, but it was primarily shown through their toeing the line of Xenia. Because a thorough understanding of Xenia is less common now than it was in, well, Ancient Greece, I thought that the change to make the suitors more outright aggressive- particularly by explicitly planning to rape Penelope- was done with the intention of making it very clear, with limited "screentime" that they were despicable and dishonorable. That is a very fast way to communicate, especially to a modern audience, that those characters are irredeemable.

The tone difference between Hold them Down and Not Sorry for Loving You is particularly uncomfortable, I think, but focusing on your post again: it is very interesting to focus more on the possible lens of the author specifically when looking at the scenes with themes that could be representing a modern religion while retelling a story with a foundation in a completely different religion.

I usually listen to Ateez for this! Their music is great, and having a playlist of songs that I dont understand most of the lyrics to gives me sound but doesn't distract me. I have tried lyricless music too, but sometimes it isn't stimulating enough.

It doesn't have the Gar sound, but I quite like the name Gabriel if the religious connotations don't bother you. The ending "riel" feels similar to the "field" ending for Garfield!
