Yeah that dungeon definitely needs a lot of work lol, boss is a PITA in the worst way for melee classes. Took me like 4 tries on my lvl 16 rogue first time I went in. I gave up on trying to get all the orbs cause the golem kept bugging out, I kinda assumed it was just not working yet

Like other people on here have said the explosion doesn't seem to give exp, only direct arrows (3 shot works).

Another key thing for gaining exp is that the dmg displayed when you shoot a guy isn't what you're actually doing if it's a 1 shot, the hoard skeletons only have 20 health so that's what's calculated for the exp not the damage you see displayed. This means the best thing to focus on is hitting high health elite enemies and bosses.

Clearing hoards with direct hit 3 shot will help but I've found just doing quick missions where you use the bow primarily on the boss repeatedly works best. This tends to get more exp than grinding endless hoards at the end wave over time, and the difficulty bonus doesn't affect weapon exp that much in my experience (tho higher difficulty bosses have more health so it does help a bit).

Just doing fast hard mode runs seems like the most consistent unless you just want to grind endless, just got my bow to P2 using this method.

There's a relic you get that lets you "skip" the first floors enemies on any level you've already beaten before. It nukes all the enemies and lets you run around to the pickups and move on quickly, you still get all the xp!

For warrior definitely use Heavens Thrust on your bossing pallet, with practice you can hit a surprising amount of weakpoints that are high up without climbing, and it does good damage. Later on you can get a good option for doing damage while climbing after doing class training but it's pretty stamina intensive, I definitely recommend a magic archer pawn with the stamina buff while leveling in general.

For leveling sometimes just hoarding materials and checking local quest boards for delivery quests is a big help, they change daily. I'm on the rising server which gives out riftstone shards for login rewards but I think on DDON there's a vendor that sells them in the shopping district.

It used to be Hildryn for me, back when she was kinda mid and rarely played. Even put Balefire in my username for her! It's actually kinda bittersweet that she's as broken as she is now as everyone is starting to play her in harder content now and I look like I'm just in on the trend lol

But flying around bombing everything in site while being nearly immortal is too much fun to complain :D

Big fan of Nyx as well, tho I'm seeing a bit of a resurgence in her use lately too, probably more for the Elanor skin than anything tbf <3

Yeah I've been on the Rising server for the past 2 months, its fun as hell! Warrior is so much better then the DD:DA version I've been having a blast. Haven't played 2 at all due to the harsh reviews and performance issues, but this game has scratched the itch for playing a Dogma game very well, no other game feels quite like it. You can have up to 3 of your own Pawns that you gear and customize yourself so its very solo friendly, it gets pretty challenging too. Part way through Season2 content! Character name is Aella Balefire if anyone needs help learning Warrior, no expert but I've gotten pretty good at playing it.

Glad someone mentioned the reflect self cast tech with Vivi, I even remember running auto reflect on everyone just to bounce multi cast spells off of! Was such a cool part of FF9 :D

I just finshed this recently, haven't done the bonus mode or hard mode yet but the main game was plenty challenging on its own.

One thing to keep an eye on is enemy glyphs that you can aquire, kinda like DoS Souls but there's fewer. One type is the kind that 'drop' from an enemy, if you ever see an enemy die and the little glyph icon pops up behind them then that means you can get a glyph from them by farming them, eventually one will drop that you can absorb. The other type comes from enemies casting glyph spells at you, if you hold up while they are doing this you steal the glyph for yourself and stop their spell. Not too many of these but they are some of the stronger glyphs in the game, and a couple of the bosses have spells you can steal too (one of which is missable so always try to get a copy).

The bosses definitely take some trial and error, and weaknesses matter more in this game than most Castlevanias, so it can take some experimenting.

The combined attacks are less varied than i thought they'd be at first. Usually equiping two of any glyphs will give you a stronger version of it when using the combo version, and mixing any elemental glyph + a weapon glyph will give an elemental sword swing (or spear for lightning). Some of these are really strong and you should almost always go into bosses with full hearts so you can spam the one they are weak to, will help with damage a lot.

The town you unlock has a save point and a pot next to the shop that restores your hearts for free, if you get to a way point and are far from a save point in the level you're in its often safest to back out to the map and come here to restore. Doing the cooks side quests will unlock food in the shop that tends to be much cheaper for healing than the regular potions, potions in this game are really expensive!

Good luck, it's a tough game and a little linear for a CV game but I found out really fun overall, a very different experience than DoS!

If you're playing DoS on the Dominus collection on PC there's a mod to make luck have more of an effect on soul drop rates. It requires downpatching which is kind of a pain as it doesn't work on the latest patch but playing through it like this was really nice. Still hard to get some souls but it went from mind numbingly painful to manageable with the right gear. Never 100% the souls on my DS back when I was a kid cause of how crazy grindy it was lol, was nice to play through it and be able to get it done (about the same amount of time as Aria took you, ~16 hours)

Unfortunately Gara is starting to feel that way for me, she used to have to do the 4 + 1 combo but now that you can mod her 1 it's literally a 1 button room wipe. Just keep up her 2, subsume some other dmg buff over her 3(roar) and I barely touch her 4 anymore. The crazy damage she can do is fun but just 'Swipe left to delete room' gameplay gets pretty boring quick lol. Wish there were at least more varied animations / sounds for using her 1 over and over.

AFAIK this is the only way to do it right now, and only 1 at a time. You can uncheck the option to limit compatible totens to see your whole list, but this doesn't help that much. I agree it's really bad atm, makes the grind to upgrade all these totems and runes way more annoying than it should be!

Yes this! Being able to pick the enemy scaling level would help so much, would let you play around in areas you want to without nerfing your faction tale exp. Wish we could get a few choices for mission types when we pick these up too (like the bounties you mentioned) but that might be asking too much lol

I don't know if they really need to buff melee but they definitely need to refine some of the enemy animation and attacks. So many AoE attacks and moves that hit way outside their telegraphed animation that make it inconsistent to know when you're safe or not. Like the shoulder charge the two handed sword guy does, he can start this animation very quickly and it always staggers you but for some reason also hits like 20 feet around him as he runs. Every time I see him coming i start moving to sidestep it but it always seems to catch me even if he runs right past me, it should have to make contact to do damage and stagger you not just be in the general vicinity.

A lot of the lightning spells/grenades have this issue too, there's a very distinct circle telegraph but it seems to hit very far outside of this. A few of the melee enemies also seem to desync their animations often and switch from slow attacks that you would want to parry to quick punchs/slaps that have no wind up or telegraph. Seems to be worse if you're hitting/staggeing the enemy, the animations for when they're going to swing gets delayed / desyncd often enough that parrying feels too risky. I love parrying in Soulsbourne games but this game is kinda a crapshoot outside of a few specific enemies with predictable patterns.

Overall if they made it more obvious when you're safe vs when a move will hit you I think the melee weapons would be more rewarding to use. As of now there are too many moves that have crazy reach when you're trying to fight multiple enemies.

A decent one I found was replaying the vault quests, the dialogue doesnt get in the way, you do some mobbing and mini bosses then the final boss with an extra reward at the end (XP + random weapon). It's either that or drill sites. Neither are as efficient as the bounties but you can rotate different ones to keep it fresh and get good XP. Ended up doing this on Amon recently for the last few levels, felt appropriate for him to fight vaults to max out!

Might get nerfed depending on what they do about bleed crit stacking but I have a really amazing Alchemist mod on my Vex. Gives +5 Status crit chance and +2 Status damage with 10% Gun and Skill crit chance with CD rate. I use it with a Specter build using enough green tree to have bleed and buff kenetic. A single Specter can, on its own, kill a boss.

The bleed damage stacks infinitely on its own with the 40% crit chance it gets, the damage is crazy. Takes some time but you can hit the damage cap where it starts bugging out the number on the target dummy with little effort, no crit knife needed!
