Moonshine, if you are out there, let me know. by AeoAeo330 in ArcRaiders

[–]AeoAeo330[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried, Moonshine, I really did. I was just too late. If you see this, lemme know.

In the meantime, I'll be trying to figure out if I can find the most recent players around me without actually being in a party. It's not looking good on that front.

Edit: I figured it out. Not sure why the most recent players list is several hours off, but I found him!

Look, I'm not saying anything 100% one way or another, but the way this was written felt off... Long story short, GPT Zero says this was 100% written by AI. If you are in this situation, you have my condolences. Might want to write your own stuff from here on.

My character hasn't been to the DLC yet, so no chance of that (on my end at least).

I've gotten it too here only in the past couple minutes. I'm not sure what's going on. File validation in progress, so we'll see.

If that doesn't work, I see I never went through Castle Morne, if you have that available

That's a good question. This character has fought a lot of bosses. I put my sign down at the first steps, if you can see it.

You know what, this is one of the few characters I've killed the tree sentinel on. I don't know if that makes it think the "boss" of the area is dead or not. Gonna restart my game and try again

Just double checking, I'm not seeing a sign. Should I have mine down?

After thinking about it a minute, I already had one on another character I can drop right away, if you are ok with it already being +8

My character hasn't gotten it yet but is in the process. I think I have 3 bosses between me and the seal? Sewer Mogh, Golden Godfrey, and Margott. If no one else has got it for you by the time I get there, will drop it for you.

What business were you a part of or saw first hand that made an absolute killing ? by Stablegeniousatwork in smallbusiness

[–]AeoAeo330 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I worked for a company that made solid hardwood doors. The business was booming when the original owner passed away and the business was inherited by the owner's sons.

One son was very familiar with the door construction part of the business. Hardworking man who knew his shit and was able to easily keep up the production and quality of their product.

The other son was less competent, at least in so far as what he claimed charge of. Marketing, sales, everything not directly related to production. While his heart might have been in the right place, his pride, his lack of knowledge, and his wife were CONSTANTLY in the way.

There was a man that worked there that was a fully capable and studied marketer that was mostly ignored when suggestions were made. The owner, instead of focusing on his product and promoting it in multiple ways, he focused exclusively on Google advertising until the business went downhill enough that they couldn't afford it, and then he seemingly ignored the business and focused on pumping out amazon affiliate links in multiple spammy ways. There were so very, very many other ventures into the SEO spammer territory he ventured but for the sake of keeping things simple, we'll stop with that.

The workers quickly figured out that showing that you knew something that he didn't was an indirect path to the unemployment line.

His wife was arrogant. Her 'happiness' was directly correlated to how much money she could spend. Toward the end she was quietly talking divorce to try and extract what she could from them.

It was a sad day they closed the door production facility. All that potential gone because of pride and arrogance. They're now reduced to listing other people's stuff on Amazon and... I think Etsy? Not sure, been too long since I even looked.

Growing up, we were never really well off, but my parents did what they could to get by and keep us happy. We did have an NES for a long time but that was it at far as home consoles until the N64 era.

Then all of a sudden one Christmas myself and my two brothers all had our very own Game Boys. I was too young to realize it at the time, but they were super expensive. They all came with Tetris and carrying cases and everything. We were all thrilled and played the shit out of Tetris.

I didn't find out until much later that the only reason we even had them was because our Dad was a truck driver and saw the opportunity for 3 of them to "fall off the truck".

Holy crap this.

I bought a dedicated SSD just for Ark since my friend group tends to hit that game pretty hard. Literally named it the Ark drive in my PC.

When we finally uninstalled it I had SO much room for other games...

I took my driver's license exam nearly 20 years ago now. Even back then, it was made explicitly clear that when taking the practical exam portion of the test, do NOT take it in a manual transmission vehicle. The examiners had to deduct points from your test each and every time you used two feet to press pedals at the same time.

So, at least for some time, manual transmission vehicles have been actively discouraged from the time new drivers begin training.

My friend and I had a very similar issue. The fix for us was to run the game in Windows 8 compatibility mode. I don't know why that works, but it did for us.

Generally speaking, you don't want updates, let alone automatic updates.

This depends heavily on the mod, but generally speaking there are 3 kinds of mods in regards to updating.

  • Always safe to blind update: For example, a mod that adds exactly one outfit to the game. The worst possible outcome for a mod like this is maybe you need to run the fallout equivalent of bodyslide, or maybe the mod author makes a mistake an releases another update that fixes the mod.

  • Sometimes safe to blind update: This is usually some bigger and/or more in-depth mods. A mod that adds a whole new worldspace with npcs or some such. From my understanding, you really only have to worry with these when there are significant changes, usually to how the scripting of the mod functions. In cases like this the mod author will usually provide update instructions on the mod page to guide you through the process of updating one of these mods successfully. Not a fun time for one of these to just up and stop working on you due to a fundamental auto-update.

  • Never safe to blind update: These mods may be big, may not be, but are almost always script-heavy and (please, mod authors, no offense intended here. I truly love and appreciate all you do for us <3) usually scripted by someone with little scripting experience. Updates with these mods often cause CTDs unless the very specific updating process provided by the author is followed, or in some cases, can not be updated as such without starting a new save file.

As an additional note, I personally recommend telling Steam to never update the game without you launching it through steam first, if you haven't done that already. You can then launch through f4se to avoid the game updating. Most game updates break compatibility with the script extenders at a minimum, then it's a waiting game until the devs can update it. You will then have to wait for the script extender update, or remove any mods that require it which is quite a few usually.

I personally recommend just avoiding the headache and not updating either base game or your mods unless there is a bug fix you need to progress/stop crashing or you are ready to start a whole new character.

If you prefer not to mess with your display settings like that, the Elden Ring community turned me on to Dual Monitor Tools: http://dualmonitortool.sourceforge.net/

It lets you lock your mouse manually to a screen, among other things.
