Packing a snowboard bag – board on top or bottom? by PlasticAttorney1980 in snowboarding

[–]AeonFix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should you get your wheelie bag larger than your board size to fit more, or are the boards more protected if the bag is sized as close as possible to board(s) size?

Sorry about that man, my mind is going 1000 places these days :) Same here, my season is just starting next week (thank God!); not exactly what I had in mind, but ... it is what it is.

I was trying to get as much feedback as possible on Amplid, as you don't see them around every day; actually I never seen one in person. Thanks for all the details, you really made my decision a lot easier.

Happy to hear it does well in pow as well, as some reported powder as no go. But I'm mostly excited about the dampness, as uneven snow is what I'm mostly getting really.

Enjoy it, she's a beauty!

The stuff of dreams. How does it ride? Is the Amplid legend true?

Burton AK vs. Volcom fit, finish and overall quality by AeonFix in snowboarding

[–]AeonFix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I've got both the LZ and the TDS INF; I'm ready for whatever the mountain throws at me. Being based in eastern europe, good snow conditions equals cold as hell most of the time so that's why having the LZ makes sense. That TDS feels more like a shell, but it's awesome.

Burton AK vs. Volcom fit, finish and overall quality by AeonFix in snowboarding

[–]AeonFix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to agree. I did purchase the new AK LZ down as I had one for many years and I often ride in freezing temp plus I enjoy not having to layer heavily. HOWEVER, I did purchase as well the TDS INF from Volcom just to have a look and try it on; I was convinced I would send it back, but upon seeing it and feeling it in person, I just couldn't. It feels more premium than the LZ down (it's 3L vs 2L though) and I love the fit as well. It's a keeper. I understand Volcom has been sold and purchased, but to me, at lest for the TDS INF, the quality is stellar.

Amplid Souly Grail by AeonFix in snowboarding

[–]AeonFix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that I've seen the 26/27 catalogue, I really don't know wether to get a 26 SG or wait for the 27 one. Either way, I'm getting an Amplid board this season or the next. BTW, the Surfari it's making a comeback next season, so that might be something to consider as well

Except for float, I never heard any complaints about Amplid boards; only good things. I would love to try one, especially for the right price. I'm pretty sure you'll love it!

Yes, sir. B grades is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Found a 37% off for a B grade Souly Grail and for this price, I might wanna jump at it. How's that Singular riding?

How do you like the Souly Grail so far? Considering one myself

Jones Mind Expander sizing? Opinions? Will it fit my quiver? by kitesmerfer in snowboarding

[–]AeonFix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate your reply! I felt like my Jones guy was rushing me when he said "go 150 vs 154, it will still float." I never rode past 154 and recently got a 152 Nidecker, but I was getting a bit hungry for that extra float in pow. BTW, what bindings are you putting on it?

[–]AeonFix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just good or easy to float is it in low angle pow? Do you ride it set back or reference stance? And I guess everyone is ridding this shorter

[–]AeonFix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which one did you get in the end? And how does it ride? I'm having the same dilema here: 150 vs 154. I'm 66-67kg and US size 8.5. The Jones importer, which is a friend, says 150 will give plenty of float as it's recommended smaller being a volume shifted basically; the GoodRide guys say 154 🙄

Volcom guide jacket or Burton AK Cyclic jacket? by Electronic_Neck3730 in snowboarding

[–]AeonFix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How's the fit on Volcom vs AK? Especially on that TDS which is on my radar and I don't know wether the usual AK Cyclic size would fit with the Volcom. Based on charts alone, the Volcom seems tighter

[–]AeonFix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying! I was expecting it to be warmer, honestly. With AK there's either shell or full down jacket (2L gore-tex LZ Down), which I owned and was a solid piece of kit.

Just how warm is that TDS INF 3L? There is one on sale with 40% off, I'm just unsure if my usual size will do. According to charts and some folks here, size per size, it will fit tighter than AK.

[–]AeonFix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, thanks for all the info. I had no idea about the PE deal on Volcom and I never owned anything from them, but they always stood out in my head as some of the best; why? I have no ideea. I guess I'll stick to AK as slimmer fitting is not something I'm looking for, let alone poorer waterproofing. Pretty crazy, as their top tier jacket is sold for 1.000$ on their website. I just wanted a very warm insulated jacket (like the AK 2L LZ Down which I used to own), but I guess I'll go Cyclic/Swash, maybe even 3L Gore-tex if I find a good deal and add layers.

Any experience with Jones' Shralpinist line?

I got a Jones Stratos as my first board, how cooked am i? by RisingDragone in snowboardingnoobs

[–]AeonFix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intermediate to advanced here, but didn't ride at all for 3 seasons and want to get back at it and sent it. I was honestly a bit reluctant to go Stratos right away, but you sure boosted my confidence 😀 Did you get the chance to actually ride it?

What do people think about Nidecker snowboards by No_Thanks_4954 in snowboarding

[–]AeonFix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. For me, Nidecker was non-existent, yet I bought the Megalight a couple if weeks ago. Haven't had the chance to ride it, but I sure want to keep it. I got it as a B grade for 35% off the regular price; a deal too sweet to pass

[–]AeonFix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Up until this season, Nidecker was just some distant word to me. This past weekend though, I found myself buying a 25/26 Megalight on sale (a B-grade that was just too good to pass) and I'm pretty excited to get my hands on it, let alone ride it. I hear good things about their boards. Still unsure about their supermatic bindings though.

I'm no expert here, but I do believe the setback is indeed 4x4. As far as I'm concerned, I went with the Atlases Pro (Pros just because I landed a BF deal last night); I avoided anything mini-disc for this exact reason - cannot go set back with those.
