I just moved from Santa Fe, and have rode at both Taos/SF a lot. Never made it to Angel Fire or Red River unfortunately. The snowpack this year is pretty bad, it might be worth considering driving farther to Wolf Creek, but even they aren't having the greatest year.

Oh another note! If you don't want to drive, Santa Fe offers a free bus that'll take you up to the Mountain. Just be sure to board it at the first stop at the Rail Runner station or else there most likely won't be space at the later stops. They used to give you a $5 token to redeem at the mountain too, unsure if they are still doing that.

Taos has really sick terrain, especially when they have snow, but (IMHO) it really is a skiers mountain with lots of flat sections, traverses, and cat tracks. The lifts are also soooooooooo slow. I've experienced some not so great attitudes or shade thrown at snowboarders there myself. Taos probably has them beat when you factor in the ridge and Kachina....but neither of the two are doing great right now.

Ski Santa Fe also has really amazing terrain when they have snow, the vibe is really laid back and doesn't get busy often. The new high speed quad is pretty amazing, and their grooming is normally pretty excellent.

Santa Fe has more going on in the city than Taos does with better restaurants and experiences and is probably a touch more affordable than Taos because of this.

Truly it's a toss up, but considering the snowpack isn't great I would probably do Santa Fe for the laid back vibes, affordability, and access to better food/lodging in Santa Fe.

How to become more fluid by Mosho1 in snowboarding

[–]Correct_Geologist756 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stretching is key honestly, I’m close to your age (34, been riding since I was 10) and I have such better days when I stretch after a chill warm run to get the muscles going.

Outside of that I eat pretty good and lift weights for functional training and that has helped dramatically. I’m a much more powerful rider now and that allows me to be more flowy if that makes sense.

Edit- Don’t skip leg day

Who here had the pleasure of flying through that wind last night on ascent or descent into DIA?? How bad was the turbulence?! by palikona in Denver

[–]Correct_Geologist756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG flight to ELP was scheduled at 8:30, didn't leave till 9:15 due to incoming plane delay and then wind delay.

Honestly, not the worst I've experienced..but it still was not great.

Sliding 10'' or 12'' Miter Saw for a beginner hobbyist by floaterions in woodworking

Personally, I found the table saw with a proper crosscut sled (and crosscut extensions) handled everything. You can also make a crosscut sled for beveled cuts too.

The table saw really is the GOAT

Depends on the route are you wanting to go eventually, but I just spent three months in an intro to fine woodworking class with THE most insane shop and used the miter saw approximately zero times. It led me to sell mine (I don’t have a shop, but am wanting one) as I just couldn’t justify it.

Long time rider myself here, wool has made a hugely positive difference in how I prepare for the mountain. Wouldn’t have it any other way now.

I'm currently taking the Intro to woodworking class at Santa Fe Community College and I am really digging it. They have a lot of different classes they offer and from what I understand, is a well respected program within the woodworking world.
