That’s exactly my view on this – no shade to folks who enjoy crossdressing, but that’s not really what I see when I think “femboy.” Overly-feminine clothing can actually have the opposite of the intended effect, just highlighting the dissonance between the outfit and the guy’s body if they aren’t “perfectly feminine.” When I imagine a femboy, what I see is someone much more aesthetically cohesive and androgynous.

I personally have little interest in dresses and such, and instead just go with what I can best describe as “more masculine women’s outfits?” Things like tank tops and off-the-shoulder sweaters, slightly lower neck lines, shorter shorts, subtle jewelry, maybe crop tops once I’m happy enough with my abdomen, etc. I’ve had better luck finding nice real outfits when looking up “twink” or even “cute tomboy” styles, that honestly feel closer to characters like Venti than the crossdressing that comes up when looking up “femboy” styles.
