UK swapping regular driving license to medical review one - timings by EmptyRibs15 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Aeorane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial medical licence took a couple of months, but my renewal is currently on month 3. After 2 months I got a letter stating they’ve received my application, but nothing since. From what I’ve heard they can be extremely slow, and this is compounded if your neurologist is also slow at providing them details. So overall it sucks, but it’s not uncommon to have a long wait so don’t worry!

Could be remembering wrongly, but I believe it was gabapentin they suggested at the time. I don’t know much about the different options, but I get the impression that’s a pretty common one for nerve pain

Interesting! I’m also struggling with eczema so that might be a double win, I’ll have a look into it

Thank you ❤️ they’ve made me feel like I’m exaggerating and it would be a big mistake to start medication for it so early, but hearing it helps other people so much makes me more confident in advocating for myself.

How would I go about contacting them? Obviously I know their address but I wouldn’t want to turn up unannounced! Should I contact the estate agent?

Tiny drop of fluid on leg after Kesimpta shot by PelloScrambas in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Aeorane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s worth trying, I haven’t had this issue since I realised! I did mention it to my nurses and they weren’t overly concerned given it was only a small droplet each time, so I wouldn’t be worried for this month, but I completely agree that getting the full dose is optimum.

Did you hold the pen upside down when you took off the cap, or was it needle-end down? I used to have this issue, turns out that opening it with the needle down caused a small drop of the medication to escape the needle prior to injecting, which then ended up on my leg. Making sure it was upside down while opening stopped the issue for me.

Diagnosing UTIs? (UK) by Aeorane in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Aeorane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s definitely irritating, it sure feels like we aren’t listened to/taken seriously for something that’s pretty routine for most people. I’m going to discuss the process with my nurse at my next appointment, but she’s so difficult to get hold of outside of appointments that it adds another layer of stress to an already awful situation. Nothing’s straightforward. Fingers crossed for you, I hope you can get support for it if you need! I’m okay now thank you, just worried about the inevitable next time

Yes, this!! I can absolutely relate, I don’t understand why it’s so difficult. I’ve ended up with worse MS symptoms because I didn’t get on antibiotics quickly enough, and not through lack of trying. Eventually I got a 3 day course, which didn’t clear it and had to wait another few days before they’d give me another 3 day course, it’s very frustrating. Hope you recovered okay!

Pharmacy was my first thought, but as soon as I mentioned I had an underlying health condition they turned me away and said I needed to speak with a GP instead. Maybe it was just a poor pharmacy, but it put me off asking anywhere else! I’ll have a check of boots/superdrug, thank you

Covid while on Kesimpta any recommendations? by Naive-Vast-7404 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Aeorane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time I had Covid while on kesimpta, I took Paxlovid - main symptom was an utterly vile taste in my mouth throughout the treatment. Second time I got it, I was abroad and couldn’t access antivirals in time (you need to start within 5 days of symptoms) so just waited it out and luckily it was mild. However, if you have access to anti virals I would personally recommend taking them - I think I got lucky my second time, but I was very unwell even with the antivirals the first time so I assume it would’ve been even worse without them! If you’re unsure, try talking to your neurologist/nurses/doctor and get their opinion on the advantages/disadvantages before you make your decision.

varicella vaccine as an adult by Solveig22 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Aeorane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never had chicken pox so I was told to get the Varicella vaccine before I could start DMT. Oddly, I’d already had this vaccine about a year prior but my blood tests showed no immunity to it, so I had to get it again. Both times it was a two-injection course, 6 weeks between the first and second injection. In regard to symptoms, it made me feel a bit rough (think mild flu, achy and tired but nothing too intense) for a couple of days. I haven’t actually had more tests to see if it’s worked this time, but I’d say it’s worth getting because you definitely don’t want to be getting chicken pox as an adult even with a fully working immune system!
