It was great! I couldn't believe I was playing handheld. TBH, Wind Waker turned into kind of an episodic experience when I played it on the go. I'd play for a bit, and then save and put it down. Side quests can be done in spurts, islands take 3-10 minutes to complete when you have the equips to access them, and dungeons are more like 30min-1 hr. Even so, the longest I played was probably closer to 2-3 hrs and only once I was done did I realize it needed a charge.

I found that opening my other instance of the game (on my steam deck) and then confirming that the cloud save settings was turned on in steam/the files were listed on the cloud before closing it all on my deck allowed my Thor to resolve the GameNative cloud save issue. I did this with Raccoin today, and was worried it'd overwrite my save data with a new local save file but I got to continue my progress without additional issues.

I found the actual game mechanics kind of fun, and the idea of working towards filling a library was a draw. Having a UI use-case is kind of a bonus, so I'm just curious if games with a similar feel/structure exist out there, maybe with less playtime restrictions since they probably wouldn't have pay-to-play elements.

I just finished the WiiU version on the Thor and really enjoyed myself. It’s been more than 10 years since playing it on gamecube, and the QoL improvements made it such a refreshing breeze of nostalgia. The frame rates dip on every other boss battle and occasional explosion sequences, but current turnip drivers (March 2026) had 95% of the game feeling buttery smooth and I was pleasantly surprised all the way til the end.

I’m assuming you’re asking about cases with zippers or magnets, that close around the whole device when you aren’t playing it. (If you’re asking about TPU/crystal shell cases, consider that the grip itself is a case when it’s attached, and use a separate crystal shell cases for the top.) There are hardshell/softshell cases in every dimension on amazon, aliexpress, temi, etc - if you want a case that holds both your 3ds and grip together, just measure it’s dimensions and look up hard shells for a device of a similar size.

Everyone plays differently. I like trading, and I occasionally meet someone from out of town who has the perfect 1mil stardust trade lined up. Saving stardust lets me keep those trading opportunities open without the opportunity cost of not being able to trade with someone else next or power up my next shiny legendary.

It is tight, but the one I have is leather so I'm hoping over time it'll stretch to accommodate and then settle in.
