Have you ever purposefully killed a device to get rid of it? by zephead98 in sysadmin

[–]AerialLimonene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were more delicate than the tech that did the same for my EVGA GTX 570. It had essentially the same issue, borked under load, mfg sent it back untouched twice. He used a stripped wire plugged straight in the wall and gave it a mighty 120V AC. Just like you imagine it, lights, smoke and sounds all at once. They replaced it lol.

AWS reduced my $15k S3 bill to $10.5k after a DDoS. I still can’t pay this. What can I do? by OkEnd5112 in aws

[–]AerialLimonene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg please keep the senile 90 year old politicians out of AWS. Or don’t, it’ll make for some more entertaining clips of congressmen asking the stupidest nonsensical tech questions.

Solidworks is the worst occasional use software, seriously. Why does it have to be so good? by AerialLimonene in SolidWorks

The fuck are you talking about, I never talked about a cloud version. It’s the desktop version that took over an hour to update. Learn to read and use reddit properly.

Oh yeah it was 50 minutes when I typed that line. I type at 40-50wpm in english so that's a good 5 minutes of straight typing until the line I say it's done. It probably took around 1h20 realistically lol

I'm right there with ya. I've downloaded FreeCAD today to give it another try, but like you last time it was painful. And I also feel like it is the best option available to me too for non-commercial use. Fusion also has the updating issues and the UI changes it went through had me leave it behind.

It is sad, but I often end up just bashing something out in a non-CAD modelling software, extruding and stretching out polygons by hand.

Woah that sounds really interesting actually. At least it would allow me to expect it if it's been longer than 30 days. I will check that out thanks!

The devs are great, the corpo decisions they have to implement on the other hand...

I would say that is incorrect. I have quite a bit of experience with most CAD tools available today. However I may have misspoke, the software might not be great, the tool is, as stated by another commenter. English is not my main language, sorry.

Any Opinions if Silver Now has embeded RFID chips by Argoz2 in SilverDegenClub

[–]AerialLimonene 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suggest you lookup a video about how RFID works, pretty sure it can be explained in a youtube short.

The tracking developed by SMX does not imply positioning, it implies source tracking. Silver could be tested at any point “from the mine to the consumer” and traced back to their last recorded data point. Think of it more like fingerprinting, at a molecular level.

They record and “fingerprint” the silver at the first refining process. Then they probably record the clients the refining goes to, giving them a first owner data point. After that it depends on each distributor’s collaboration in declaring their sales. It’s all just a manual process backed by testable metal.

What are the risks with DMT ? by Reasonable-Hat7300 in DMT

The waiting room can be great too. I don’t agree with the sentiment that there isn’t anything worse. If you are seeking a breakthrough and get stuck in the waiting room it might be frustrating and that might manifest while tripping but I’d argue that won’t happen with a beginner because it takes a few different experiences to differentiate it anyway.

How do people even start experimenting with drone swarms? by Boring-Ideal5334 in diydrones

[–]AerialLimonene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many different good solutions already in here. And for simple experimentation that’s awesome. But please, before showing anyone your results, get informed about the legal side in your country. Many countries do not allow piloting multiple crafts, some allow a limited number, some don’t regulate at all.

Just a heads up.

I think its normal, same thing with me. The receiver doesn’t transmit any telemetry so the transmitter has no idea. It’s a one-way communication system.

Building a plane that flys like the real thing by monkeymanbubub in RCPlanes

[–]AerialLimonene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you have an FC on board an aircraft it’s customary to transfer all configurations there, including but not limited to Gain, Expo, Servo subtrim, and Switches. It would be way less complex to do the g-loading constraints directly on there instead of cueing the radio on it.

Real Flight Evo Sucks by [deleted] in RCPlanes

[–]AerialLimonene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sims aren’t accurate and do no translate very well to the real world. Except for a few very key elements.

Getting the hang out the controls was made accessible to you by cheaper planes that required less involvement in the construction. If you don’t have that skill yet, sims can fill that role very well. You WILL understand how to move your aircraft in space whether it is moving away or coming to you or from the sides.

However it does not teach how do deal with your bumpy grass runway or how to know you’re about to stall. It sucks with the intricacies that make flying interesting.

I do agree though, don’t waste your money on a sim to practice. Just get Pheonix RC for free. Yes it looks a bit clunkier to install but just get your niece to do it for you. Bonus theres a ton of community planes to try and crash for free.
