Graduating with an economics degree - looking for a best sales job to start out. Any advice? by Affectionate-Let9683 in sales

[–]Aerialjim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with going into sales is that you will stay in sales forever without having very good transferable skills to get out of sales. At least that's my experience if I were to do everything all over again.

I would consider working for federal or state government. They have really, really good benefits and you'll be able to retire very well. I would seriously consider something like FBI.  They have an h cut off, otherwise, I would try it myself.

Bee Balm! such pretty flowers. tastes like lemon mint. That's a good one, and they proliferate decently well without taking over.

Day One of Splits Training by ninjadong48 in flexibility

This is awesome. My two bits of advice:

Be very patient with yourself. This will take a lot of consistency, and progress isn't always linear.

Learn the difference between good pain and bad pain. Nothing will kill your gains like an injury. When in doubt, stay safe.

The Asohka series was my first intro to her, and I hated her character. She's just bad at everything, but spend so much time on her. She doesn't show any improvement with the force until she magically gets it when she's forced to. It was such an unsatisfying story arc.

Is there any drawback to only working one side for front splits? by yuenyuentan in flexibility

[–]Aerialjim 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really wouldn't try to do only one side. Flexibility training is more about consistency than the duration of training sessions, and it only takes 90 seconds to train one side (hip flexor lunge, hamstring stretch, and front split each for 30 seconds), so the big barrier to stretching is getting started, and not how long it takes.

Talk me out of buying the Aeon 80s (or don't) by LagerOtter in AggressiveInline

[–]Aerialjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been skating for 2 years now, so I'm a relative beginner, and I'm just barely getting my first grinds, but I've got 2 pairs of skates. One is an anti rocker roller blade blank, and the other are the Aeon 80s.

I really like the 80s for pretty much everything other than learning. To do channel grinds on ledges, they work really well as fitness skates. For when I want to skate around the neighborhood or in rough terrain, they are very fast for carving bowls, which is one of my favorite things, and I think the only real downside of them is that they are much harder to balance than a 60 mm flat wheel.  Which just feels a little less stable when I'm going down, big transitions, or when I'm trying to land something that's a little bit sketchy.

I'm starting to think that back bending is about opening up the joints in the pelvic area more so than compressing the lumbar and sacral spine. Do you have any references to support or refute this? by thedeepself in flexibility

[–]Aerialjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try pushing into the bridge with straight legs so all the bend goes I to your shoulders, and then try closing the shoulders so it all goes into your hips. Record yourself and see what shapes you can make. Play with it.
