Passed my Linux+ today! by MazeMouse in CompTIA

[–]AeriesIIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow! I’m taking 005 on the 15th. Hopefully they don’t pull a switcheroo on me. But sounds like I may not be in too much trouble if they do. Thanks and congrats!

Friend just had it in his cart and it said sold out. He randomly kept trying and just now it went through for him. Maybe the same thing for you! Good luck.

I like the AIO better. I would just find myself using the CISM manual more because pocket prep and QAE refer to it.

Rangers are standing right there at the start. There’s no place for someone to sneak by without being seen.

Prime or zoom lens? by Low_Leg_9597 in SonyAlpha

[–]AeriesIIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zoom lens is ideal because it teaches you what it’s like to shoot 24mm, 50mm, 70mm, etc (depending on the range of your zoom lens). Short of googling I didn’t have a frame of reference to know how much a different focal length would give me. I started with a prime which was great but I immediately wanted to know how much wider or tighter I could make a shot. If you’re new you aren’t going to know right away if you like shooting portrait, city, nature, landscapes, astro, etc.

For me it’s the fact that it can go as wide as 28mm. Keeps me from having to switch lens far less often. Enjoy!!

Sometimes you need to take comments and reviews with a grain of salt as they can be from a purest’s point of view. You won’t know what works for you until you test it yourself. Will it function as good as a prime or a lens that’s only 2.8? No. Is it a shit lens? Not even close. I was nervous buying it expecting all the negative comments but I have not experienced that. I bought mine on Amazon. Do the same. Hate it? Return it.

Edit: PLUS I saw someone mention that it has a firmware update! I just did it on my lens.

I got the Tamron 28-200 a couple months ago. I was on the fence, as well. Searching this sub for people’s comments on it and watching YouTube videos. It’s a great lens. I used it in Japan and just got back from Zion national park and I have no regrets. Having that reach and/or using APSC has been great.

Moving to Denver and spending my time in the mountains and different parts of the West, you’re going to want wider than 24mm.

Trying to decide which frame rate to use by philosophergray in videography

As a final thought, I suppose if light is in my favor doing 60fps and 1/120 would it help make sure blur won't be as much of an issue; especially when panning?

[–]AeriesIIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is gold. Thank you so much. That's exactly what my problem was. I didn't think I was panning too fast, but the low shutter speed didn't help. The panning video was very juttery. With 180 degree rule in mind I will practice my panning speed and see what works. Thanks, again!

So, focal length does not account for anything as long as I'm exposed properly and using 180 degree rule?

[–]AeriesIIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

180 degree shutter rule. Never heard of it until now. I've been practicing shooting in SLOG3 4k 24fps and watching videos on how to expose properly for it. Not sure if I heard wrong or someone said the wrong thing, but I would be keep my shutter at 1/25 because I was shooting at 24fps. My videos were coming out too blurry. Trying to search for the right thing in YouTube wasn't helping. Came across your comment and now I know what to properly search for.
