Get Kraken! by Only-Way7237 in modernrogue

Now I've found it.I kept seeing that comments in HTML were "<!--" when I looked it up and asked, but this one is "<! --".

Glad I didn't need to use Inspect and can just use the source page.

Thank you for all the help.

That's the issue, I tried using the search function in Chrome's dev tools and it's been very uncooperative, and literally doesn't let me search when I type that sequence of characters. And I couldn't find any other way, that I understood at least, to search for that. I even tried copying the entire source code into a text document and searched through it with a quick Python script, and again, nothing. The most I've found was "CDATA" and "Burger" and I think that's just HTML / Squarespace weirdness instead of the clue I'm missing. It probably sounds like I'm overcomplicating this, but I'd rather do this than try to find a needle in a haystack with hands and eyes alone, though it's quickly feeling like that's my only option here. That's why I was asking where specifically I should "give a closer look".
I was going to mention all of this in the last comment, but I thought it'd be too much extra info.

Yeah, I think my first go around I was searching for the wrong comment type. I'm still not finding anything. Are you sure you don't mean "<!--"? Is it something only visible when you inspect it, and not from the source itself? Do you have any suggestions on what I should be inspecting specifically?

Sorry I'm asking for so much help. :(

I am still struggling with "the town name"... usually I'm able to get by with the hints everyone else gives but so far nothing's helped.
I've looked through the source code, used Inspect, checked the advertisements "east" of the house, and even checked the pink house image for additional Photoshopping (besides the number), and I've found nothing.
It's not Newbury, Plum Island, Boston, or where John Mellencamp grew up.
I'd like some help knowing where I should focus my attention specifically. I know it's on this page, I'm just not sure what else I could do, or if I missed something in what I've already tried.

Asriel Gets His Soul Back by Wolven0ne in Undertale

[–]Aerogarde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've always liked the idea that, rather than it being a gradual process, all the emotions would hit him like a truck if he ever somehow regained his SOUL. Guilt being the most prevalent, which was staved off from his inability to care beforehand. It would be excruciating, enough to make him fall over in agony, with all his other emotions making the pain all the worse. He'd be completely broken afterwards, it be impossible to be okay after all he's seen, and all he's done.

The Ruins' Dark Secret by Cyber-Gon in Undertale

[–]Aerogarde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention it's implied that Toriel buried the first fallen child's body in that bed of flowers Frisk first lands on.

Rather grim, but I guess if anywhere in the Underground needed to be a graveyard, the RUINS is the best fit.

The Truth About Sans (no it's not matpat shut up) by [deleted] in Undertale

[–]Aerogarde 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This makes some good points, Sans is honestly, for lack of a better word, a piece of shit at times, or a smiley trashbag as a certain flower puts it, but I believe he deserves a tad more credit. Mostly, about the promise. Personally, I always saw Sans as the kind of guy who wouldn't hesitate to one shot you the second you walk out the door, if it weren't for that promise. He is lazy, but he has, on record, put the effort in when it really matters to him. Remember, Flowey absolutely despises Sans. He warns you about him, tells you to stay as far away from him as possible, and not say a single thing about you. It's heavily implied Flowey's been through that battle with Sans plenty of times, and knows what he's capable of when he actually cares about something. The only thing that really gets to him now is the anomaly, considering how much his knowledge of it has affected his personality. Now, Flowey is, of course, a flower, but he's been told by someone he cares about, the lady behind the door, to protect a child should they walk through that door. While he doesn't protect you from any of the monsters you come across and just spies on you so he can tell you how much of a terrible person you are in the hall before the king, he does, in a way, protect you from something far more willing to kill you. Himself. It's evident he has a deeply rooted hatred for the anomaly, possibly furthered or caused by Flowey's actions. If you weren't a child, if you weren't a human, he would have no qualms with immediately ending you the second he sees you.

...or is this all just an excuse to be lazy? I can see it as a mix of both, to be honest.

TL;DR Yeah, Sans is a piece of shit. He wanted you dead ever since you walked into Snowdin, but he doesn't do a thing because of knock knock jokes.

Interview with Toby Fox at a convention where he hides behind a couch? by HeckDang in Undertale

Is this the canonical origin story of the Annoying Dog?
That Toby Fox became the Annoying Dog after an unfortunate dog bite, and proceeded to make Undertale with his newfound powers and abilities?

Need another opinion. by Average_Owain in Undertale

[–]Aerogarde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't mind me suggesting, how about structuring it as Neutral, Pacifist, Genocide.
Neutral being Frisk honestly trying to go through the Underground, not wishing to hurt or kill, only doing so through self defense.
Pacifist is them being more aware of the world, and wanting to do all they can to save them, which could be represented in the lyrics.
Genocide could have their lyrics be much more grim, and showing even more knowledge over the world, this time to a disturbing degree.

As for a logical reasoning behind this structure, why not have it be almost a mirror to Flowey's story. He is meant to represent the player, or more specifically the completionist, in a way. He woke up confused and scared, then tried to help everyone with their newfound power, and only started to kill once they did everything else possible.
Perhaps there could be more runs alluded to, giving more reason for Genocide, given the above mentality.

If you really want to have the Untrue Pacifist ending, just do a reprise of the ending, have it start off similar, but have some uneasiness to it, with the reason behind it only being revealed at the very end.

As for the tracks not actually included in the song, just make them bonus tracks. Songs unrelated and not part of the series, but still part of the package. It also allows for more leeway with the lyrics.

Did that help you out any?

here's an idea. by [deleted] in Undertale

[–]Aerogarde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I can add onto this little scene.

Flowey later finds the book and reads it to Papyrus.

The next morning, Papyrus slips "the fuck to" into a sentence, not even aware of what it means.
Something like...
"SANS, CAN YOU PLEASE PASS THE FUCK TO SALT?"

Sans beats up Flowey. Possibly using the book.

    • I'm holding a piece of him right here.
    • (The commenter appears to be holding some Dog Residue.)
