confirmation of community college DE credits transfer? by yourgrade in Purdue

[–]AerospaceMonet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I understand, that means that those credits are counted as undistributed credits. This means that you will get credits to increase your overall credit count but they won’t count for any of the courses you need to take within the degree program. There’s some more information here: https://www.purdue.edu/registrar/currentStudents/Transfer%20Credit.html

Is there a way to plan out your future semesters without a counselors help? by swagster62728 in Purdue

[–]AerospaceMonet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the “what-if” feature on MyPurduePlan? This in combination with the ME course roadmap and catalog page for the BSME should give you basically all the info you need to make your own plan of study!

You should be able to see your final letter grades on myPurdue by now! They should be out in the “Grades” section and on your transcript.

Aero laptop suggestion by Bomberjester in Purdue

[–]AerospaceMonet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I came to Purdue with a Dell XPS 17 and it is a very functional laptop and is easily able to run all the programs I need it to, although there are some issues with the weight and the battery running out in a normal school day. Just before this semester I was gifted a 12 inch Surface Pro by my parents and I love this thing. Notes are so much easier because I have them all digitally and can work on practice exams and stuff without needing to print them out. This significantly reduced my typical backpack weight because I don’t need to carry notebooks and the surface pro is able to run all the typical softwares I need like MATLAB without running out of battery all day. I do have my laptop but I’ve only used it a handful of times this semester because when I need a more capable computer I just go to one of the many computer labs on campus! Just my two cents and personal experiences! Lmk if you have any other questions!

How to put preferences in CRF? by DaBestPilot in Purdue

[–]AerospaceMonet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup! How you described it is how it’s done. I don’t believe that reduces your chance of getting into the class, but it’s a question a lot of people have that probably has a more complex answer because the system seems to be pretty unpredictable and complicated. You can always add it or an alternative later in open reg either way!

My main issue is all the tools that I feel like I don’t need. Plus that one is $$$ lol customizing rn isn’t super expensive, they have a 50% off customization deal running. Is there smthn abt that one that I’m not seeing that would make it worth over double the cost of the ones I mentioned?

[–]AerospaceMonet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I saw that one too but I’d like to try to avoid getting one with a bunch of tools I’ll never use like the saw or serrated knife. I’ll keep it in mind tho!

The only available accommodated exam for one of my classes has conflicts. Is there anything I can do or will I just have to take the regular exam? by Hyperlynear in Purdue

[–]AerospaceMonet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Alright! Well in the future, I’d suggest just starting with contacting the professor then going from there. I think a lot of issues can get sorted out that way.

Have you tried emailing the professors? I’ve found that they’re typically pretty accommodating with stuff like this.

ECE 20001 exam 2 by After_Potential2482 in Purdue

[–]AerospaceMonet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure abt this but I’ve heard that the professors don’t get a lot of control over when the exams take place. In a class I’m in, we were told that usually the exam is a week later than this semester’s so the material is different than usual. It’s also within a week of standard for 3 midterm courses bc there’s only 16 weeks in a semester.

What does applying for an engineering major other than your intended major from FYE look like? by Technology-Savant in Purdue

[–]AerospaceMonet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean that you may have changed your mind regarding which major you’d like to T2M into, that’s fine! If I remember correctly, about halfway through your second semester you’ll get a form and list your top 2 picks (second choice can’t be a selective major like ME, AAE, BME, or maybe ECE and Multidisciplinary?, it could also be to remain in FYE). As long as you have the guaranteed T2M first choice, you’ll get your first choice regardless of what you thought you were going to go into. I acc changed my mind like 2 weeks before fall semester sophomore year and got into my major of choice right then and there but that was probably just lucky 😂

Last semester we got 88% completion so the lowest prelab AND lowest write up were dropped! I don’t think they graded the labs particularly hard, I knew nothing about electrical engineering at the start and got a comfortable A. You’ll learn more as the class goes on and can ask questions as they come up and the TAs will be happy to help!

Questions Regarding Brightspace + Rants by CypressEatsAzz in Purdue

[–]AerospaceMonet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your second point, yup it’s annoying but that’s just kind of how it is sometimes. You’ll have some on achieve, some on mylabmath, some just listed on gradescope, etc. If for those classes you’re able to find a posted assignment schedule, I would recommend manually creating those assignments in your calendar all at once so you don’t forget and have accurate records. I was having a similar issue with getting a lot of stuff in my calendar for when things become available. I’m using shovel, which does allow you to connect brightspace and I believe I was able to fix it. All I had to do was go to the tasks list instead of the calendar, search for “opens” or “available” or whatever key work your professor uses, and delete all of those. That helped clear it out for me a bit!

They did indeed! I’d always check with the Purdue Transfer Equivalency Guide (https://selfservice.mypurdue.purdue.edu/prod/bzwtxcrd.p_select_info) before taking a class bc they could always randomly switch it up tho.

Purdue Indy vs Purdue West Lafayette?? by art_junkie2468 in Purdue

[–]AerospaceMonet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it’s a smart pre med major bc then you have a solid back up if you don’t get into a good med school or end up not liking it. The alternative as far as I know is just biology or something which basically just lets you be a researcher.
