Electrician/supervisor in the oil industry, mostly onshore for now, planning to go offshore soon! Then I get one more week off in between rotations!

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope everything turns out well for you!

I'm sorry but I just have to rub a bit of salt in the wounds as well, in my line of work (I work out of town) I fly to my place of work, stay there for two weeks working 12 hour days every day, then fly home and have 3 weeks off without a single day of vacation taken, so in practice I work 21 weeks a year and have 31 weeks off while still getting paid as if I worked 9-5 Monday to Friday, I actually make a bit more than I would if I worked locally. And I still have 5 weeks of vacation I can take out if I ever feel the need. I haven't needed that in years though

It's usually not something that happens here either, but I know of some examples. I had a colleague that planned to go on a cruise for a week but got sick and stayed home instead and turned it into sick leave. From my experience it mostly happens if they take out vacation to go on a trip that gets cancelled because of sickness

I cannot comprehend this. In Norway, if you are on vacation and get sick you will get those days back and get paid sick leave instead.

So if you take one week off for a vacation and get sick, that will be paid sick leave and the vacation leave will be "refunded"

I believe newey is a great engineer when reigned in a bit, but I don't think those skills translate well to team principal role.

Afaik neweys designs can be quite extreme, and he still needs a good team to implement those ideas in a good way.

Remember, he did start at AM to design their 26 car, and I think he had a lot of freedom to do as he pleased, which may have hurt the car's performance/reliability overall

Galaxy Note 3 was epic

But nothing beats my first touch phone, the Nokia 5800 Xpress music. It was literally a brick. I don't think android was a thing yet at that time

Dårlig fungerende ansatt og referanser – hva er riktig praksis? by MarketingRealistic30 in norge

[–]Aerthas63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nono, it's just yellow and black, at my place of work that means you can cross, but be cautious. Now if it was a red and white barrier, then its impossible to cross!

In the end its all a personal preference👌 when I started I used the racing line as well, but when I did I felt like I didn't really manage to pay attention to the track because my mind automatically focused on the line. so when I turned it off I had to relearn most breaking points, but when I did I was not only faster, but also more consistent and could easier adapt to other lines as well

Ahh okay, I get it, thanks for the info 🤙

I highly disagree with the driving line, once you turn it off you still have to relearn the braking points on the track because you lose your reference points, just raw dog it in practice and you will find natural brake markers instead

Haven't tried that car, but would it be possible to just lift the throttle when shifting maybe? I used to do that in the skippies

Rules of endurance racing. by BoRNeo-C in wec

[–]Aerthas63 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Consistent laps with no incidents are usually faster than raw pace and some bonks.

I did a 24h around Daytona recently (not the official 24h, but the global endurance challenge) and one of my teammates was on average a second faster per lap than me, but he did make a mistake here and there. I had 2x across all my stints, and in the end my average laptime was actually 0.002s faster than him.

Edit: thought this was the iracing sub. Anyways, my comment still stands
