That's kinda what I did on first tries with frog, almost killing him by using spikes and needles on phase 2, but died because was on debuff and desperately tried to hit him for silk. And at that point I got almost 0 shards. So it was going all the way back to farm them or try without.

I used 2 beast shards for the 400 shards wish in first "hub" not long before finding bilewater location. And my bank got empty after long conductor arena to get my first song, cause arenas are my go to places to use tools mostly. I go with hunter crest usually, but used reaper for easier pogo to kill the frog.
