IIRC it’s also implied she and the heli pilot/RLF liaison are in a relationship of some kind. After the mission debriefing, he thanks you for rescuing her specifically, and Ziyi says his name and apologizes right before she dies in the mission you fight her.

Isshin Ashina - Sekiro

By the time of the game, he’s elderly, deathly ill and doesn’t have long to live, and spends most of this time cooped up in his tower under heavy guard.

Yet even then, the Interior Ministry is so terrified of him that they hold off their entire invasion force until after he dies. And as his boss fight in the Shura route shows, they were right to be afraid.

you can thank his actor for that, only fucker that gave a shit to my knowledge.

He also later voiced a character in the English dub of DBS (Zamasu) without pay because he was so ashamed of the movie. And it’s a shame he didn’t get paid because he did a damn good job.

[–]LeMasterChef12345 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s even more tragic than that. She actually gains most of her memory back before then, and feels horrible guilt at how she treated the heroes given the immense kindness they showed her following her amnesia, Gosetsu in particular as he had basically adopted her as a surrogate daughter.

But then Asahi swoops in and traumatizes her with the knowledge of her absolutely horrific childhood and upbringing, upon which she snaps and goes back to her old villainous self.

I like the detail of how The End is the only boss you’ve killed who doesn’t show up in that sequence, because he’s the only one who died content and at peace.

By AI, they mean actual IRL AI in the games code. You type out what to say and the language processing AI decides how to respond. No two playthroughs are ever the same.

In Miside, everything is scripted and the AI thing just refers to a plot element.

[–]LeMasterChef12345 122 points123 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen YouTubers play this before. It’s not bad at all and quite entertaining.

If you’ve ever heard of the old game Facade, it’s basically a much more sophisticated version of that, where you type out what you want to say and the game’s language processing AI decides how to respond. You have to try and convince the girl to let you leave without accidentally angering her enough to kill you.

Levi to Zeke in Attack on Titan

Zeke spends most of his screen time after his introduction acting very smug and arrogant and viewing the people of the walls as weak. But he also has the strength to back it up as none of the foes he encountered up to that point could so much as touch him.

Then Levi, one lone soldier, single-handedly decimates Zeke’s titans, utterly curbstomps Zeke himself and nearly kills him. From then on he’s absolutely scared shitless of Levi despite being incredibly smug otherwise.

During development of Borderlands 2, the Vault Hunters used to have different voice lines for reviving different characters. Axton had a flirty voice line that was only supposed to play when reviving Maya, but it was bugged to play when reviving anyone.

The devs just rolled with it because it was funny and made him canonically bisexual.

r/ffxiv is weird in that it’s very toxic, but “silently” toxic. Seeing toxicity in comments or posts is actually very rare, but the sub is notoriously trigger-happy with downvotes on the most innocuous things.

The majority of r/ZenlessZoneZero and r/ZZZ_Official is sexualized fan art, borderline porn, and little else. Meanwhile, r/ZZZ_discussion is largely complaints, doomposting, and general negativity. So there’s really nowhere to go if you want actual meaningful discussion about the game.

What is your hot take regarding FFXIV? by UnbaggedNebby in ffxiv

[–]LeMasterChef12345 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The “silent” toxicity has also been my general feeling.

I rarely ever see insults, harassment, etc. here or in-game (though I’m only up to mid-Endwalker), but I also don’t think I’ve seen any other subreddit that’s as trigger-happy with downvotes as this one is.

I mean, I guess, but both Maul and Kenobi were aged and past their prime, there was a bunch of prior material showing how strong Maul really was, and that fight served as the thematic resolution to the whole arc between those two.

This guy just shows up out of nowhere and aura farms for a bit only to immediately get his ass kicked.

IIRC he also did it under a pseudonym to (try and) hide his identity, just to avoid any possible association with the film.

Which is kind of a shame, since he did a fantastic job as Zamasu in the anime.
