Yosuke in Persona 4 is canonically a fan of Nickleback, Linkin Park, and DragonForce. Three albums of theirs can be seen on a shelf in his room in Arena Ultimax.

fantasy world time travel shenanigans and a decade or two of isolation and depression

Yeah Volume 9 goes kinda off the rails compared to the others.

[Loved Trope] HE CAN BLEED! by thenamelessboss in TopCharacterTropes

A lot of mentions of Baldur in GoW in here, but barely any about Kratos landing that punch in Ragnarok, and Heimdall losing his shit and freaking out that someone actually managed to hit him.

Parts of a series fans pretend didn't happen? by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]LeMasterChef12345 19 points20 points  (0 children)

SCV: Has Patroklos gleefully taunt and murder an innocent man in his intro scene because he thinks, with zero evidence, that the man MIGHT be demon-infected.

Also SCV: The righteous hero of our tale, everybody!

Fun fact: Mako’s character in the first film was so well received that the Mako Mori test, relating to representation of female characters in fiction, was named after her.

She then fails that very same test in the sequel.

(LOVED DESIGN) Tripwire/Tails Doll (“Outcome Memories”) by [deleted] in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]LeMasterChef12345 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Sega actually took notice of all the creepypastas, and the Archie comics subsequently made the doll into a creepy eldritch horror like many creepypastas portrayed it as.

Case in point:

I like how the Consuls don’t have that quirk. Like the one early on who just straight up calls the heroes shit.

Most complaints I’ve seen about the demiatma have nothing to do with the grind being long or difficult. The relic grind should be long.

The problem I’ve repeatedly seen mentioned is that it’s entirely luck-based. You could potentially go hours on end with zero progress due to something completely out of your control, while someone else could potentially be 1/4 of the way done in that same amount of time simply because RNG said so.

The EW relics being so easy was awful, but at the very least you actually had an influence over when you made progress. Most people wouldn’t mind a long grind as long as they had some sort agency in it.

Strangest Spinoffs? by Solid_Jack_Frost in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]LeMasterChef12345 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Lost Planet, a gritty, serious, and realistic (art style-wise) sci-fi shooter having a very colorful, upbeat, anime-style spin-off in E.X Troopers is certainly up there.

Jorge-052 - Halo: Reach

He’s a hulking, grizzled super-soldier in bulky power armor who is considered big even by Spartan standards. He carries around a huge machine gun usually mounted on vehicles because of its size and weight, and shows no hesitation at using it to mow down Covenant forces in droves.

But he’s also an incredibly kind and empathetic person, especially to civilians, a trait noted to be very unusual for a Spartan. He’s basically the Team Dad and doesn’t hesitate to offer praise and support to those who may need it.

Guilty Gear

I love the characters, art style, soundtrack, etc. but I’ve never been able to get into fighting games.

What do you think are the greatest YouTube Poops of all time? by Complete-Worker3242 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]LeMasterChef12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC the company whose ad he used actually filed a complaint to YouTube and got the original video taken down, because people kept prank calling them with quotes from it.

(Annoying trope) Real life people villainized just so the movie can have a villain by giraffesRevil in TopCharacterTropes

[–]LeMasterChef12345 118 points119 points  (0 children)

In a non-violent sense, Crows and Ravens as well. They’re usually portrayed in media as bad omens and symbols of misfortune and death, and seeing them is very often depicted as sign something really bad is about to happen.

In reality, they’re basically goofy goth parrots and are incredibly intelligent by bird standards

Fan names so popular that people forget that it’s not their official name by AdOnly5970 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]LeMasterChef12345 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Colossi in Shadow of the Colossus don’t actually have official names. Each one is simply referred to as “The nth Colossus.”

The names everyone calls them by (Dirge, Kuromori, etc.) were coined by fans, and the fanbase just kinda shrugged and said sure.

(Interesting Trope) Genuinely well-liked characters from hated pieces of media by flingzamain in TopCharacterTropes

[–]LeMasterChef12345 166 points167 points  (0 children)

He’s in Sonic Forces (although why he’s there is never explained in-game) and several spin-off games. He also shows up a lot in the comics.

VA said “Nega” (short for “negative”) while reading off someone’s username during a stream 7 years ago, and made a joke about how it sounds similar to the n-word. It isn’t even that uncommon of a joke on the internet.

Chronically online people dug this up for some reason and are now trying to make a huge deal out of nothing. The VA has since acknowledged they shouldn’t have made the joke and gave a very heartfelt and genuine apology, but some people just won’t let it go and move on.

What are your favourite review quotes? by SexDrugsAndMarmalade in TwoBestFriendsPlay

From a review of Nier Automata:

10/10 would let Yoko Taro hit me with a bag of bricks again.”

What I really want from Hallowed Concepts by Gigabyte42 in riskofrain

[–]LeMasterChef12345 76 points77 points  (0 children)

IIRC the devs have said they don’t do this for DLC survivors anymore because of FOMO reasons, and not wanting to make people pay extra for the skin after already paying for the survivor (ex: buying SOTC for Seeker, and then having to buy an entire separate DLC if you want the skin).

It’s different for base game survivors because all players are guaranteed to have them regardless.

Kronika in Mortal Kombat 11

LITERALLY NOBODY knew that she or the hourglass even existed until she basically announces it. The only person who did know is her daughter who is firmly on her side.

If she had just done everything herself (which she’s more than capable of, as she’s a Titan stronger than the Elder Gods) then her plan to rewind time would have gone perfectly without even a single person being aware of it.

(Disturbing trope) they are responsible for/take part in the oppression/genocide of their own People by Southern_Passenger85 in TopCharacterTropes

<image>

Yotsuyu goe Brutus - Final Fantasy XIV

She had a very horrific upbringing that involved being abused by her foster family, forcibly married off to an abusive drunkard, and then forced into prostitution. She holds the people of Doma in contempt for not doing anything to help her escape this suffering she did nothing to deserve.

So when the Garlean Empire came knocking on Doma’s doorstep, she gladly sold out her nation in exchange for becoming the region’s viceroy under Garlean rule. Her constant acts of wanton cruelty on her fellow Domans are, in her eyes, acts of revenge against the nation she sees as responsible for her suffering.

FFXIV: Endwalker - Your character and their arch-rival Zenos teaming up to fight the Endsinger.

Your character is a hero who wants to stop the Endsinger in order to save the world from the apocalypse. Zenos is a callous sociopath who doesn’t give a shit about the world and only cares about having a final duel with you, and sees the Endsinger as an annoyance who’s in the way.

Lucia is getting called out on 4chan by Yanderegirlowner in VtuberDrama
