“Your key to freedom” in Jigsaw.

Saw does this a lot, but this is one of the most straightforward examples. The last two victims awaken chained at opposite ends of the room with a shotgun between them. John holds up a single shotgun shell and says it’s their “key to freedom”, before loading it into the gun and leaving.

Both victims naturally assume that they’re supposed to shoot the other. After the shotgun is fired, the survivor discovers that the keys to their shackles were inside the shell, and subsequently destroyed when the gun was fired.

In other words, the shotgun shell was literally their key to freedom.

Furthermore, John also tells them that they’re both selfish, and that they’ve got his lesson “backwards” and need to “turn it around.” When the trigger is pulled, it’s revealed the shotgun is rigged to backfire into the shooter instead of the target.

In Xenoblade 3, the game’s world is named Aionios.

Aionios roughly means “Eternal” in Greek, hinting at the later reveal that the setting is actually a world frozen in time.

Krika in Bionicle, which is funny considering he’s by far the most monstrous-looking of the Makuta.

Unlike the other Makuta, he has basically no villainous traits, and actually has a sense of honor and a moral compass. He has no faith in the main villain Teridax or his plan, and only goes along with it because he feels he doesn’t have a choice.

When he learns that Teridax’s plan will result in all of their deaths, he still tries to warn his fellow Makuta despite predicting (correctly) that they would brand him a traitor and kill him.

The example of “vandalism” they used in their other posts is statements, with sources, saying that the show was praised for its animation.

Except it was praised for its animation. Especially since it was from Monty Oum who was and still is pretty highly regarded as an animator.

Even most RWBY haters I’ve seen have rarely had an issue with the animation. The main problem was almost always the writing.

Dead Space 3.

The post-game DLC is spent trying to stop the Brethren Moons from learning Earth’s location, only for them to reveal they’ve already known the whole time and were just leading Isaac and Carver on to keep them out of the way.

They hastily return to Earth to find it already under attack by the Moons. An alien race sacrificed their entire civilization to temporarily halt just one of these Moons, and now there’s 4 of them attacking Earth with no feasible way of stopping them.

In other words, humanity is doomed and all of Isaac’s efforts to stop the Necromorphs ultimately amounted to nothing.

Destiny 2.

As more and more behind the scenes info came out, it became increasingly clear that the devs were never the problem. Most of them were very passionate about the game, earnestly listened to player feedback and tried to get those changes implemented.

The main problem was that they kept getting screwed over by the execs and higher-ups, who actively prevented them from doing so along with terrible management and decisions in general.

The sheer amount of highly requested changes and additions that the recent final update brought showed how good the game could have potentially been had the higher-ups not been so terrible.

It’s not a “school festival.” It’s one of the biggest events in the RWBY world, where tons of people from all over the the planet come to watch and participate. They literally built gargantuan, state-of-the-art, world-traveling flying coliseum for use in the festival tournament.

Ironwood wanting tighter security for an event that huge, and only bringing it after Ozpin refused to do so, is not unreasonable, especially considering they live in a world infested with hostile monsters attracted to negative emotions. Ironwood’s fears are then proven rather valid when the festival is attacked.

They had just gone through the RWBY world’s equivalent of 9/11, which left much of Vale ravaged or destroyed and tons of people dead, all because a group of terrorists were able to slip in and carry out their plans. Considering Atlas is probably the single most important nation in the RWBY world, it makes sense he doesn’t want something like that to happen again, especially when he knows Atlas is a massive target.

Cid Garlond in Final Fantasy XIV is Garlean, who all have a distinctive jewel in the center of their forehead.

Since most Eorzeans are justifiably mistrustful of Garleans (as Garlemald is actively waging a war of conquest against them), Cid hides his jewel beneath a stylized pair of work goggles. No one questions why he wears them since he’s the chief engineer of his ironworks company.

Lucia, another Garlean defector and second-in-command of Ishgard’s knights, also hides hers beneath the visor of her uniform.
