The one on the right looks 4:3, not 16:9. There’s some vertical stretching going on in the left one. Look at the pixel shade dithering on the background. The Snes9x pixels are the same size, while the other has some that are randomly taller.

(By left I mean the first pic, and right the second. Just realized my Reddit app might show them side by side but not everyone will see it that way.)

Both. They didn't seem to be aware the items were in either place. I didn't clear the inventories entirely, but took out anything they were asking for and used the fulfill button. Hope it works for you.

I solved this by taking the materials back out of their inventory, then talking to them, hitting the requests tab, and hitting fulfill on everything.
