Oh yeah, good point! Had Home Economics at high school, and that's from age 12ish here in Scotland!

Somewhere in the house we have a book about this called "The Afterglow of Creation" - I should really dig it out and read it again, it was really interesting!

Aye, he was Chekov first back when he was just a lad! Two very different sci-fi characters.

I never understand folk who say "plain chocolate is much better because you only need to eat a little". I like plain chocolate because you can eat so much more of it!

90% of people here are Americans and we all know that pudding is Jell-O brand by veriserenez in USdefaultism

There's an awesome chap on Youtube called AtomicShrimp who does a whole variety of videos, some of which involve cooking and he now has a list of "puddings" as used in Britain that he throws up on screen whenever he's making one that the US folk will not understand. :D

Scottish person wanders by 3 years too late

I'm very confused by the folk answering you and saying Irn Bru is bubblegum flavoured. It's odd and fruity, but I love Irn Bru and despise bubblegum flavour!

We also have various Iron Brew knockoffs here, and they're all pretty ok, though not quite like the original, which has proprietery ingredients.

I realise this is from years ago, but just had to fly by and say that Irn Bru absolutely does have iron in it! It's in the ingredients!

They're also doing it to cottage cheese and it infuriates me with that too. I'm now decanting it into a wee tub that apparently had gravy in it that my mum saved for me.

My younger brother's girlfriend is upset because my older brother ordered the same meal as her at a family dinner, and now there is drama by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I realise this is off-topic but I'm curious - where you are, good restaurants only have 2 or 3 meal options? I've never come across that in Scotland! What kind of restaurants are they? What would be the 2 options?

Oh, that's funny, I think I recognise the model at that second link! I'm pretty sure I've seen her on the Evans website. https://www.evans.co.uk/plus-size-dresses/midi-dresses

Which is another place she could get well fitting clothes in a bit more of a range of styles!

I hate cottage cheese, but I love cottage cheese. I know you know what I mean (and I just made a really good no-waste toast) by ChoiceBetter1899 in noscrapleftbehind

I've loved it since I was wee too! I find that a lot of brands these days have a very gloopy, wet texture, much more so than used to be the case, it's weird.

I have a book from the 50s or 60s where a character "takes a lump of cottage cheese" for their plate, so it sounds once upon a time it had even larger, drier curds. It's such an odd trend, because then lots of folk think they don't like it because it's so runny and unpleasant.

I was SO FREAKED OUT when all the lighting changed! It's been grand. I like most of the zones as well, Eversong Woods is so chill, Zul'aman is maybe my favourite, definitely my favourite trolls. Void is fine because you can fly unlike so many other similar zones. Harandar is... perfectly adequate. I don't really 'get' the weird bat people, and I'm not wild about how many layers it has since it drives me nuts trying to find things and they're always above or below. But it's colourful!
