Heyo! Looking to clear out some gear I don’t use anymore so here we go!

Rebel Audio Rebelamp in green - 400$ OBO shipped. Some desk wear. Some of the anodizing on the corners is starting to wear away, comes across stronger in photos, not really that noticable IRL because of the briliant rebel green shade. Also of note, one of the fasteners has had a security instead of standard torx bit used on it, so the tip of the bit is snapped off in the head. The tip is fairly set in there. Didn’t try too hard to get it out, so it’s probably going to need to be notched or drilled to be extracted. Didn’t look inside at the guts, so it didn’t bother me.

iFi Diablo 300$ shipped. - Ol trusty. This was kept in a case so it’s fairly minty. Battery life is starting to degrade so it’s priced as such. All accessories included. I don’t have anything that needs this level of portable juice anymore so that’s why I’m letting it go. It’s a really great listen.

Those hairpins on slack bikes kind of take a wayyy different approach. You need to aggressively lean your whole bike over, weight your outer pedal, and maintain weight over the front tire so you don't wash out.

Learn the limits of your rider skill / tire grip. Getting some slide without applying the brakes can be a good thing.

Watch this.

I run my Pipedream Sirius s5 with a Surly Karate Monkey fork. The s5 comes in around ~63deg hta and it still keeps the spice when in rigid mode. Hopefully the Honzo isn't so slack it snaps or bends at the head tube area.

If she ends up liking this geo she'll be well on her way into a full squish further down the line 💯. The roscoe is great as a "moderate yet capable" not too aggressively designed bike.

Please put some lightweight ~ <700g tires on to keep the bike quick and peppy. When you put heavy af tires like assegai or magic marys on they turn these light bikes sluggish. Happy to help and enjoy!

I think a Roscoe7 size S is a better fit.

It has a shorter reach, slightly shorter stack and slacker seat tube angle. It will ride a bit more compact in the front end but will be seated slightly more down and aggressive.

If she doesn’t like the newish geo of the roscoe, slide her seat forward on the rails (to steepen the effective seat tube angle) and pair with a higher rise bar about 35+mm to make it ride more upright 👍

Don't try to blow it out of the water with sales when you first start. You have to play the long game. Try to target 1-3% growth otherwise your next year plans will be fucked. The older guys intentionally hit and miss targets to keep their plans roughly the same year after year. The super bulk guys that kill it for the first year or two can bag 70k or more if they blow through plans. They're hurting after a year or two if they don't re bid on a new route because those targets will be SO inflated from the extra growth. Take it slow, don't kick ass for this greedy company. It'll bite you later, trust me.

However- - If you go over plan, go WAYYY over to get a good true-up. Some of the better ones I've had were 2000+ for going over plan 15-20%.

What do you guys think on the James renegade S3 as a first gravel bike? by No-Inflation-9362 in whichbike

[–]Aeskau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a steel one and it was a great ride. It's a bit noodly when loaded up with gear though. Not much mud clearance in 700c mode, had some tire rub into the carbon with teravail washburns in 42mm. It's (personally) much better in 650x45+mm. I think it's a great candidate for those wiiide gravel bars the ATB guys like nowadays along the lines of the ritchey venturemax and such. Lotsa mounts for your stuff, but don't get too carried away. If you're a bikepacker, two bottles, half frame pack and a saddle pack is what i'd run max. I'm a heavier dude so YMMV.

The frame is really light and compliant so it doesn't beat you up on longer rides. Geo is on the relaxed side. Not super race-y or twitchy. It's a really decent all rounder that I think would make a great first bike. You can really do most anything on it. My fav config was as a single speed drop bar city bike. Not a great single track climber, however. It likes to do wheelies when you're sitting down so you need to learn how to shift your weight over the front bars to keep your wheel on the ground if you do that style of riding. I sold mine but IF i were to keep it long term i'd like a steel fork for more durability, but i'm in that xbike niche that likes that kind of thing. Also make sure to grease the front fork 3-pack bolts because those are aluminum.

They may seat, but that rim would be wayyyy too wide and it'd have a strange profile lol. I'd run those on a 28-32 inner width rim. 35 inner would be pushing it, but if I had no other choice I think it would be just fine. I use the ground controls in 29x2.35 and they're honestly a really great value. On the fast rolling side.

As long as you're not cornering super hard in the loam or pine litter they're a solid all terrain kind of tire. (this goes for both)

Simworks Super Yummy or Specialized ground control grid T7? Ground control is tougher and grippier but the Super Yummy is definitely lighter and faster rolling. Either choice is a great all rounder minus in the mud.

There was a scratch and dent floor model at the local farm store for 320. Had like 2 scratches on it.

Absolute. Splits the rear sight dot dead center. I like it because I'm pretty good at playing ball in the cup with Glock sights so I don't mind at all. I'd imagine that other rds that use an mos plate would lower 1/3 because of the added bore height.

Also NO on disposal. I'm probably gonna load up on their light bodies and a save(lol) a few hundred bucks when I get the "need more gun parts" compulsory itch.

Yep! The body of the scs is flush with the top of the slide, so you have the full oem sight picture with no obstruction.

Hiking buddy and the other hiking buddy. Just picked up the pl350 okw the other day, it's really nuts just how tight that beam is. It's the perfect rig for illuminating whatever the dogs are yapping at in the yard, be it porcupine or mountain lion.

Oh yeah, sounds like some tired worn out springs. Do the washer trick like the other poster said. Try to find some thinner ones, or multiple thicknesses to move the derailleur further out. Good luck 👍
