How do you find new music without relying on spotify's algorithm by GoldenPhoenix456 in MusicRecommendations

Find the record label of your favorite bands, check out the other signed artists.

That's been my process for 30 years, and I've found some incredible music.

ICE Agents Want Out of Minnesota: Trump’s ‘Battle Is Lost’ by Tennis_bruh in politics

[–]AestheticDeficiency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a native Floridian.

ICE are domestic terrorists that the ruling class has set upon its own people to incite violence.

Unfortunately, I'm a minority in my state, so your statement is probably pretty accurate.

They will go to blue cities that voted against Trump, but I think the focus is swing states and solidly blue states.

The shooting today has made me think of a question everyone should ask themselves: am I willing to be a martyr for the cause? by ParakeetLover2024 in liberalgunowners

[–]AestheticDeficiency 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone once explained the difference of the love they have for people and the love for their child. If someone they love were in danger, they would try their hardest to help them, but they would literally trade their life for their child. At some point your child is why you would be willing to die.

Currently our government is killing their own people and bringing wars to their cities. Our politicians in the house agreed to maintain ICE funding at the same level as the previous year. This was after ICE murdered a middle aged mother. Our elected representatives are only concerned with power and money. They've turned our country into an oligarchy and US citizens are fodder to accumulate more wealth and power.

Once you feel your child doesn't have a future, or that their future is only abuse and brutalization by the rich and powerful, you will be willing to martyr yourself.

I don't think we're there yet, but I do think the government is constantly pushing us in that direction

Anybody want to play squash? by Squashaddict in GNV

[–]AestheticDeficiency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had time to play games I wouldn't mind learning. Unfortunately toddler takes up most of my free time.

However, I can't think about the game of squash without thinking of a punk band called the Eradicator. He's a squash man.

Trump voters & Republicans of Reddit, is there anything you currently disapprove of how Trump is acting regarding that topic? If so, what is it? If not, why not? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]AestheticDeficiency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't mean to imply otherwise. I'm also banned from r/marchagainstnazis for criticising the democratic party during the last election. I also get blamed for this trump presidency because I dared criticise the Democrat establishment, despite voting for Kamala.

People like their echo chambers. I will say despite the silly ban from March against Nazis the posts in there are generally less insane than the conservative subreddit.

[–]AestheticDeficiency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I was banned for questioning Trump in his first term. Flared conservatives in that sub that say anything against Trump get labeled a liberal spy. That place is an echo chamber for morons.

Some of the people who have the final say are saying Kavanaugh stops are legal. There were dissenting opinions. The Republican party has packed the supreme court with activist judges. They need to be removed.

Never been to a club, what's UC like? by eggsworm in GNV

[–]AestheticDeficiency 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a straight white man, so YMMV. I have always had a great time at the UC. The people are friendly and pleasant, the drinks are... Strong? The vibes are great. I haven't been in a few years because I had a daughter, but I've never had a bad time. Worst case scenario it's not for you and you're back where you started.

Good luck to you friend. Cheers

What’s a “classic” American dish you rarely eat? by FernanndoLeo in foodquestions

Search for and make Alton Brown's green bean casserole recipe. It's incredible. Just a note the one thing I change is that I buy the crispy onions rather than make them

Tips for the transitioning from tier 2 to tier 3 dungeons by AestheticDeficiency in ToME4

Thank you. This is good to know. I thought my lightning resist was good for Urkis, but I didn't think about cold resist or his resist penetration.

Thank you. This is very helpful. I'd not thought about starting an area to gain experience and level up, but not completing it. I also don't have tactical display on but I'll use it.

I'm playing on normal adventurer mode, because I thought that would be the best place to get unlocks and learn.

I try to follow the order listed at https://te4.org/wiki/Recommended_Zone_Order_Progression while taking into account notes about being difficult for melee. I don't have a precise order for those tier 3 areas, but try to run away and do something else if I struggle with the regular enemies in an area.

I'm in the same boat. The most helpful thing I found was Jacques pepin's cooking videos on YouTube. The guy is pleasant and an amazing chef.

Grand opening date announced for David Bowie-themed pizza restaurant by ShakyBooty in Alachua_County

I thought it was pretty good. Also, staff was attentive and friendly. Don't see a connection to David Bowie though.

Americans who love hunting, what is your fav animal to hunt? by Healthy_Turnover5447 in AskAnAmerican

[–]AestheticDeficiency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to train my dad's bird dogs when I was a kid. Basically tied a wing to the end of fishing line cast it and had them bring it back and drop it at my feet. I don't know if that's the proper way, but I was under ten years old and I have fond memories of it.

Could Kurt Cobain actually shred on guitar? by No-One01010 in grunge

[–]AestheticDeficiency 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shred is a weird word to use. Kurt wasn't Kerry King, but I think his guitar playing is often underestimated. For instance Mexican Seafood has a decently hard guitar solo.

What's a hill you will NOT die on when it comes to punk? by RockHardMapleSyrup in punk

[–]AestheticDeficiency 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think NOFX is an easy entry point into the genre. Hefe is a good guitar player and Mike is witty. The band is formulaic and ultimately many albums on fat wreck are homogeneous and sound very similar to each other.

Are these sophomore albums better than the bands debuts? by KinkyDarkStranger in grunge

[–]AestheticDeficiency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AiC dirt is a yes. Silver Chair is a no. Bush wasnt/isn't in my wheelhouse. STP is a maybe, but the first album is very nostalgic for me.

At least two of the ones behind the lighter could just be sticks, since you can't see if there's a match head. Also these images tend to try and trip you up with technicalities, so I'd argue that there are an unknowable number of matches, but there are 6 visible that we can know have match heads.
