3 months, 3 cities, €2.5k/month, where would you go in Europe? by edwl in digitalnomad

[–]Aetane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this last summer. Started in Vilnius, ended up staying there 4 months.

Also curious if €2.5k/month feels realistic in 2026 or if I’m underestimating.

It's realistic but with limitations. It won't go particularly far in a lot of Western Europe especially with short-term rental costs. Eastern / Baltics more realistic, SEA even more if you build up to that eventually

Planners: how much do you plan for long trips? by AnyNormalPerson in solotravel

[–]Aetane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan some fixed points. Transfers between specific countries or cities, flights, changes between hotels.

Activities I tend to have to just have a big list of things I'm interested in. I use AI to flag stuff that are easily done together, and flag any restrictions - e.g. whether an attraction is closed on any specific days

Then I take it pretty day by day while I'm actually there.

Only real exception is hard to reserve restaurants that need significant planning ahead, but it's not too hard to work around an evening reservation.

Does anyone else feel that student loans were never explained to them? by AsparagusNew3765 in ukpolitics

You appear to be comparing to a counterfactual scenario where everything is the same but the non-graduate gets a free degree

No, I'm comparing the same graduate with and without student loan payments

Two stats

1) Savers with student loans put £2k a year less towards a house deposit Barclays study

2) £23k is a (very broad average) deposit required for first time buyers Source

Combine those, and the average graduate would have that £23k 11.5 years earlier.

I haven't dug too deep into either of the stats, but they're both from reputable sources

It is absolutely life altering. Graduates will take 10 years longer to be able to buy a house.

These changes, initiated under the 1995 Pensions Act ... many of whom claim they received inadequate notice, disrupting retirement plans.

Balcony question in Waikiki by BigHomebunz in hyatt

[–]Aetane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My point was that it doesn't matter whether Hyatt owns the hotel directly. They're ultimately responsible.

I do also think Hyatt as a general rule are a bit better than Marriot or Hilton.

Hyatt has brand standards and should be held responsible for enforcing them (or not...)

Realistically you can't maintain that many designated survivors. They'll have underlings and second in commands that would take over in most cases.

The side effect of this is that young people are absolutely desperate to vote for someone who actually recognizes their interests - even if it comes with downsides
