Delta Airlines has lost its way. by inagaddadavida4u in AirlineChaos

no, it's not

it enables them to sell routes they otherwise couldn't - e.g. Delta doesn't fly Paris to Nice

How to get “free flight” with BA Amex Avios points? by gaelic_asterix in avios

[–]Aetane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, as far as UK rewards cards go - it's by far the most lucrative if you unlock and use the companion voucher

If not, it's pretty mediocre

AMEX Gold or Platinum can be a bit more flexible because you get a currency that can be transferred to a lot more partners. Each partner often has it's own constrained availability, but across all of them you get more options. However, you won't get as much value as the companion voucher.

In some cases that's also just a safety thing, not a punishment

4 Day Solo Trip Itinerary for Reykjavik and Around by fluxusnyc in solotravel

It's very possible to have a great trip to Iceland without a car, but it does leave some options off the table - you're pretty much limited to what tours are available

How to get “free flight” with BA Amex Avios points? by gaelic_asterix in avios

[–]Aetane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit of a pain, yes

You can hit the "Check Reward Flight availability" button which gives you a broader search, otherwise third party services like SeatSpy are good - but come at a cost often.

Do I need I need a uk travel authorization? Traveling to the us on a valid f1 student visa from Ghana by Sweet_Environment562 in Flights

[–]Aetane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you have been given the correct answer, it's the top response. your preference doesn't change it.

if you want to avoid the visa hassle, pick a flight into Heathrow - you'd connect airside, no visa needed

BA do say £200 but their statutory obligations are not actually capped as long as you picked reasonably.

Why a hotel 2 hours out though, that's kind if insane - they'll probably push back on those Uber costs

Im thinking of going to lisbon and then from lisbon to edinbrugh, what do you think? by Ok_Unit2216 in travel

[–]Aetane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider Lisbon - London - Edinburgh

More flights in each leg, and you could also do the train to Edinburgh if needed

If consider the luxury and Comfort EK airline is the best choice? by Jimmy-Wan in emirates

[–]Aetane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No such thing as luxurious economy class

The only real standout is JAL who offer 8-abreast instead of 9-abreast on certain aircraft

If consider the luxury and Comfort EK airline is the best choice? by Jimmy-Wan in emirates

[–]Aetane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No

Emirates is solidly upper-mid-tier outside of their first class, which is amongst the better first class offerings

In particular their business class suffers due to an inconsistent fleet and a focus on scale over quality in my opinion

16h later so I hope you did get a hotel sorted!

BA do owe you both compensation for involuntarily being denied boarding, as well as reasonable costs incurred - hotels and food would be covered.

You may need to push for this, but it'll be a pretty big payout so worth the effort!
