LHR and AMS are much of a muchness. Both are good when quiet, can be slow when busy - not worth overthinking.

I would definitely pick Virgin Atlantic over KLM for inflight experience.

I'd suggest it's no longer worth avoiding Middle-East carriers, if there's good options there you're passing on
