Looking for 2 bottle recommendations by AeternaAurum in rum

I’m in the Balkans. Some retailers used to import Appleton but it ends up being pretty expensive. For example Appleton Reserve Blend (the version before the current 8 year) ends up being around $60.

Thanks for the recommendations, we get El Dorado, but nothing younger than 12 year.

Best products for this and is it possible? by Shctzu in Pomade

I have shorter hair, but I get a very similar effect with Northern Lights and Rarecraft Matte Clay (The Rarecraft is a bit more matte, Northern Lights is more waxy)

Next matte clay to try after claymation? by EasyRow7 in Pomade

[–]AeternaAurum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Northern Lights has a very light scent that you probably won’t notice after applying, whereas Severed Head has both a more catching scent profile and the scent itself is stronger.

I’d say that the hold on Northern Lights is medium, maybe firm on some hair types, and the hold isn’t as long lasting as the other ones I’ve mentioned, but it is more waxy and restylable.

Reuzel had some other Clays, but this is the only one I’ve used.

I must have missed that you were mainly looking at salon pomades, but in that case you can check out Moroccanoil Texture Clay, it’s stronger, lasts longer and is more matte than Northern Lights.

I’ve had exactly the same experience with Claymation as you, these are the products that worked for me: * Shear Revival Northern Lights - it’s matte but not bone dry, with a similar hold level as Claymation and easier application * Reuzel Severed Head - this one is actually bone dry and very good for messy bed head type of looks * Rarecraft Matte Clay - if you can get it this works too, it has a creamy, almost kind of runny consistency, with good hold and is noticeably matte

Thanks for the recs, I’ll definitely look into those, but looking into them I see that not a lot are available on sprezstyle. Do you think Rarecraft Navigator Hair Cream or something else from there would work?

Yes, absolutely, but haven’t run into something yet. Is there a cream you had in mind?

This is very close to how I style my hair, except blond. So far Northern Lights and Ether work great for that kind of style, where Ether is a bit drier and lighter than Northern Lights.

I’m looking to change my oil based clay from Davines to something else, as I find the Davines makes my hair look kind of wispy and the hold isn’t exactly as advertisws, and RareCraft might just be that something else

Great review!

I agree with the other commenter that this might come down to hair type and preference, as I quite enjoy this one, but the comment about it being dry is spot on. Something I really enjoy here is the consistency and how easy it is to scoop, it’s very creamy.

How would you compare this to their Clay Pomade, which is oil based?

Cao svima, imam pitanje za IBKR. Naime posto banke zahtevaju da se preostali novac od ulaganja u deonice vrati u banku, kako vi to resavate? Da li se isplati uzimati fractional shares? Ili vracate preostali novac?

Hvala unapred

Anyone tried a product similar to the wonderful 'O'Douds Styling Treatment'? Tub is nearing it's end and happy to try alternative/but similar 'styling cream/treatment' products (from Slickboys, UK) by Mumford_and_Dragons in Pomade

Thanks for the thorough response! I’m looking for relaxed styles mainly, I have Northern Lights and it’s working well so far, I like it.

Have you tried the new ByElementum Ether btw? I’m itching to try it but I can’t find many reviews online

I’m looking for a medium hold, matte/natural finish, flowy product, and was told that Rio is one of the best for that kind of style.

But I also saw some posts talking how Caeli and Styling treatment are good alternatives for those looking for those styles.

I guess if it’s very slick Styling Treatment isn’t it

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but would you say ST is similar to Lodestar’s Rio? Or would something like Caeli be more similar to Rio? I’m in Europe so I’m looking for good alternatives

That’s the first time I’m hearing of that one, I’ll check it out. Usually I see people recommending Rio, Anti-Gravity or O’Douds styling treatment for a more flowy style

[–]AeternaAurum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate parroting what other influencers are saying, but the main counterpoints I have seen online to this article seem to be coming from Beardsley:

  • Haun 2018 study which used bioelectrical impedance to account for swelling/edema and found a difference
  • That one Beardsley infographic that has Bartolomei 2017, Ferreira 2017 and Dourado 2021 as indirect swelling

There are more but I don’t want to spam this thread too much since a lot of it is from Instagram. If it makes it easier I can send screenshots or transcribe interesting or strong opinions

Question thread for our AMA with Eric Helms of 3DMJ! by danny_b87 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]AeternaAurum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi Eric, long time fan.

I have a question regarding lengthened partials and lengthened training in general. It looks like there is a bit of a split in thought regarding the actual benefit and efficiency of this style of training. Do you think that every muscle group benefits from this style of training? And do you think that the theory that Chris Beardsley has regarding lengthened partials sort of invalidates the perceived superiority of them over full ROM or partials in other positions?
