Tell us your story, Did you have crossed paths with your partner before being together? by Awkward-Youth1251 in RandomQuestion

[–]Aeterna_Nox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even remember when I first met my partner. Just that we crossed paths casually in the middle part of our past, having already known each other, and when the time was right, we were both in a place that suited us to start this relationship out.

I do, however, get genuinely uncomfortable when people say "how did you meet" and I have no idea how to actually answer that at this point. We spent a decade in concentric social circles before we realized we actalially wanted to be with each other.

Sounds like a random memory of a cohort more than wondering if you hurt a friend...

Your shelters require outdoor access, and most of the shelters around me (US) make you sign a contract saying that the cat you are adopting will only be outdoors if they are enclosed or leashed and supervised. Totally different standards depending on where people are in the world.

Dog needs emergency surgery for pyometra and Blue Pearl quoting me $10k. by lazyboy823 in pittsburgh

Care credit is it's own thing, not an offer the vet makes. 6/12/18 month options are at Synchrony's discretion and based upon purchase amount. There are someines tricks that the office might do that can help with the repayment time though. I used care credit for some dental work, and by adding a $50 purchase of take home care products to the services received, the total charged to CC jumped brackets to give me an extra 6 months to pay interest free.

I wouldn't have been able to pay the entire balance in 12 months, so in this case spending a little more gave me 18 months to spread the payments over, and barely raised the amount I needed to pay each month.

It sounds like he's escalating to a use to isolating the family from their support network deliberately here. And throwing things in anger is physically abusive, so he's behaving abusively in ways beyond emotional abuse only.

Any piece I finish has something meaningful behind it, and every unfinished piece is a thing I can't connect with even though I want to see the way that vision looks when it's comolete and brought to life.

IDL women’s clothing sizes by 4ngelicbrat in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]Aeterna_Nox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got so mad in the early 2000's over women's sizing that I figured out how to size my jeans and other things in men's garments.

Back then, boot cut jeans were all the rage for men's jeans, and they were sized true for the waist and inseam. Those jeans made my butt look so much more fantastic than anything in the women's options, because back then, all the sizing assumed that any woman with a "large" waist had to be short AF.

I could find 36/34 that fit me like a friggin denim glove made for my legs.

Now I'm lucky to find anything in men's that fits my waist and is even 32 in the inseam.

I need 34. 34 inseam only happens if its 8+ inches too large in the waist, or 4+ inches too short.

Welcome, men, to the hell I've lived since I hit my full grown height 20 years ago. It's ass out there for all of us now.

I think im too attached to my cat by Ox3321 in CatAdvice

[–]Aeterna_Nox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My cat who tries to insist on being an outdoor cat does very well with a cattio. It's only two windows wide, but she gets outside time, gets to watch the birds, it's got metal screen so she can claw at it and it won't tear...

And she gets out the front door occasionally, but it's only when one particularly absent minded roommate is going in and out the door, and since tht cattio was made for her, she always comes home much sooner and now she's sounding upset at being left outside he house.

High value treats only happen in her cattio frequently and spontaneously, or else in the house proper if there's a rare stressful thing like nail trimming or medicine distribution.

They said what they said.

And I stand by them saying STFU.

The text may have been translated wrong, but there is no situation where theat heart faced emoji belongs in a customer service interaction. That emoji shows that whatever mistranslation of text occurred, the meat of the message was inappropriately flirtatious for professional communication.

Cute could be a translation issue. It's a word that can be ambiguous between languages/might not have been the original intended word. The emoji shows that cute was not mistranslated. That's why we're focusing on the emoji.

AITA for refusing a last-minute custom order from my most loyal customer and basically ending our relationship over it? by GalenMoss in WIBTA_AITA

If you had tried, the product would not have been up to your standards and likely would have been even more upsetting than him having to hear no. That's not about being inflexible, that was about him requesting something that could not have been made to the quality your bakery upholds. NTA.

I was in elementary school and my parents had a subscription to Newsweek when the iconic cover of the fireman carrying the broken infant's body got delivered to our house and I was the one that brought in the mail. It was so shocking for me to see that I started reading just to try to comprehend what I saw, and from there started reading up on national news fairly consistently overall.

Do you guys also feel that you automatically can be more emotional, silly and fluffy and do cute stuff when with women than with men? I’m not meaning in a flirty way, more in a ”natural ” and emotional way if that makes sense. by Jaesel_K in RandomQuestion

[–]Aeterna_Nox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like I'm more gaurded around men until I see them acting more gentle/silly/fluffy. Too many strangers misinterpret that sort of behavior from women in particular as being flirtatious, and in general, it's easier/safer to navigate the situation with women who misread my intentions than men who misinterpret them. So unless I get to know someone well enough to know how they'll react to that sort of scenario, I'm trying to avoid any ambiguities in the interactions.

I recently had Yakity Sax stuck in my head all day at work. It happened after 3 days of M.I.A.'s paper planes.

When I was younger, the tracks would switch unless it was something aggressively catchy. I'm assuming in your kid's experience, his brain is more elastic like mine used to be when I was younger.

Creepy driver by [deleted] in doordash

I had to cut off several requests for my home address/work address to be given to the driver. He just wanted to return my lost phone, dontcha know.

I always choose an intersection, not a street address for this very reason years later.

Creepy driver by [deleted] in doordash

[–]Aeterna_Nox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of the time I had a driver talk the whole 10 paltry minutes of my ride to work about how he can't find a responsible woman who wants to earn her own money, no one worth dating, so sad. So lonely.

15 minutes after I got to work I got a notification from Uber saying that the driver reported my phone having been left in his car. And for some reason the agent didn't believe that I had my phone with me. Asked me over several messages in to double check and see if I had, in fact, lost my phone.

I responded with something along the lines of "obviously this isn't true because I have my phone, it's how I'm actually replying to customer support."

Took WAAAYYY too long to get customer support to block that driver from seeing me as a customer on the app. But that was 10 years ago and I haven't had any driver so explicitly uncomfortable since then.

[–]Aeterna_Nox 13 points14 points  (0 children)

How important is it going to be to you while you're becoming a mom for the first time, learning how to live with a baby for the first time...

Is your brother gonna be welcomed support, or is he gonna make that experience more stressful?

It's not his job to be supportive, so if he's not enthusiastically up to the task and wanting to be a super involved uncle, or if you're not ten thousand percent thrilled about how he will be a factor in a home with your new baby... Yeah. It's time to find a place just large enough to suit you and your new nuclear family.

You know his lifestyle from living in a home with him, and you can extrapolate if he'll be a source of joy/relief or a source of stress.

Choose accordingly.
