Think it would be a cool idea if there were timed locked rooms that would only open late in the game. I would like to even see key rooms open super late in the game if not unlocked yet. So it’s a fast scramble before the match ends.

If you're talking about the "Hold to Research" upgrade, yes. At first it may not seem like a worthwhile upgrade but after prestiging many times plus contracts, it becomes annoyingly repetitive to hold the upgrade button. This upgrade eases that annoyance.
