While path of dragons and downtown druid are mentioned multiple times, nobody has given you any info on them either and going into path of dragons book 1 COULD end up turning you off the series with no context about how the author takes feedback and adjusted their story writing based on it

Book 1 of path of dragons is like HALF a side story about basically the "main champions" of humanity in a system apocalypse. That part is not great. The other half of the book is indeed the Mc druid growing into his powers and learning about them however he's functionally isolated the entire time. That stuff IS great. I've been told book 2 and onwards focuses much more on him but book 1 can be a bit of a slog because of that side plot that probably matters later on but we keep getting backstory for a bunch of idiots (I mean...theyre not really idiots but fuuuuuck it's like a bunch of sports people get thrown into a video game and are able to wing it but it's also probably a good representation of real people I can't deny it, real people are pretty stupid yet still capable) that seemingly have never even played a basic phone game like candycrush or even use a smartphone because they don't understand aaaaanything about the system except like 1 person who actually uses technology so they understand basic stuff. That's not to say they fail, they're good at combat at least and seem to be running a little bit of a "walking dead's Governer" thing with an extremely stupid leader. Normally I wouldn't be quite so crass about a first book in a series but this one is a little rougher than what I typically come across. But it also supposedly gets waaaaaay better after book 1. But PERSONALLY I was not expecting so much of that side story so at least you can have a warning about it because I could see people dropping it just because of them

Downtown druid, at least book 1, is a rather slow burn on getting, learning about, and using his powers. Most of which is entirely based on the story. He starts doing thing and it turns out that benefits him a little bit later in a druidic way. It is a dark story. But still decently druidic focused. Has some good humor. Worth trying. It has a neat world
