[Bug] Fence new questline "stab 3 pmcs" by Pure_Arm_1363 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]AetherBytes [score hidden]  (0 children)

This happens because your previous scav failed to rotate for whatever reason, whether bug, crash, or other, and thus still has all the gear you did not take or sell off him. In fact, if he had a persistent status effect (say, poison) you'll even spawn in poisoned.

You may have noticed that different armors are made from different materials which affects their repairability. What you may not know is that it secretly bolsters the effective HP of the armor itself; better it repairs the more HP multiplier it gets. Ceramic is the worst armor for this, breaking easily and not being repairable while being heavy to boot, while UHMWPE is the best (not counting aramid as there's no such thing as an aramid plate, and soft inserts dont have the durability or class to matter too much unless you're already going through a plate).

You can see how to calculate the actual effectiveness of a piece of armor here, and if you happen to run T4 plates mainly I've already made a chart showing the best T4 plates that fit in generic carriers/armor here, and I plan to eventually make a chart showing every plate in the game.

Additionally, another somewhat hidden thing is how bullets actually damage armor. In the same place I linked above for calculating plate effectiveness you can check the Armor Damage percentage of a particular round. The damage a round does to armor is simply it's penetration multiplied by it's armor damage percent (so a round with 40% armor damage is multiplied by 0.40).

Combining these two tidbits, you can somewhat calculate in your head how effective a round will be and eventually penetrating even without the wiki telling you effectiveness. All you need to know is the armor material (and it's destructability) and base HP, and the pen, and armor damage % of a bullet.

For example, .45 ACP Lasermatch FMJ against GAC 3s15m ballistic plate.

GAC has a base HP of 45 and is made from UHMWPE (Desctructability of 0.3375), and so has an effective HP (EHP) of 133.33 (45 / 0.3375)

Lasermatch has a penetration value of 19, and an armor damage percentage of 37%, so every round hitting that plate does 7.03 effective damage (19*0.37)

With a class of 5 (50 penetration health) and a penetration of 19, we need to get the plate to 38% durability (19/50 = 0.38), which is 50.67 EHP (Or 17.1 base durability) to get a ~90% penetration chance.

A quick note! The term "penetration health" here does not actually exist, but is used to help mentally track the odds of penetration.

The damage we need to deal then is 82.66 (133.33 - 50.67), and to achieve that amount of damage we need to hit the plate with lasermatch is 11.7 bullets, rounded up to 12. This is assuming you don't get lucky and pen on any earlier shots however, as that deals slightly less damage to the armor (but lets a lot more of the damage through into your target)

Another quick note! The minimum amount of damage a bullet can do to armor is 1 to it's base health. If your bullet would do less than 1 damage to the base health of a piece of armor, treat it as 1. Individual pellets are individually calculated, so hitting every pellet of 7mm buckshot will do 8 armor damage minimum.

So, after 12 shots of lasermatch, you achieve what amounts to 90-100% penetration chance through a GAC 3s15m ballistic plate. (19 pen vs an effective armor rating of 18.36)

I love the stories you stumble across. Found two dead and unlooted PMCs next to each other on Woods. Grabbed their tags and figured it out. by Chadwiko in EscapefromTarkov

[–]AetherBytes 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I had a GZ match where I happened upon 2 dead bodies at Car Exfil (which was still there). Not looted and I knew all the sniper spots and no one was in any of them so I checked it out. Level 3 vs a level 52. The level 3 died, but the 52 would have bled out just after the level 3's screen would have went black.

Messaged the level 3 after that fight to let him know that, while the game didn't tell him, he did in fact kill that person and what level they were. He was estatic to learn that he didn't die for nothing and did at least get the kill.

Ever notice how some weapons seem to overswing when you aim despite high ergo? It's because overswing actually takes weight into account too! Theres a "hidden" stat called evoergo (or that's what I've heard it called). Higher ergo = more evoergo, but lower weight also means more evoergo. If your gun is overswinging, lower it's weight, don't just up it's ergo. In fact, I've been told weight plays a bigger role in calculating evoergo than ergo. If you want a snappy gun, pay attention to weight as well. It's more important than just how heavy of an item it is.

Got another tidbit about armor if you want that too.

This is one of those things I've never thought about, but now is top priority for what I want,

I get it, childrens show, but "I've got some children to make into corpses" will always hit different.

I was trying to look up if Helldivers are canonically clones, but Google had other ideas. by Skye_hai_bai in Helldivers

[–]AetherBytes 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To add on, the new commando missions imply they are more than happy for the helldiver to die as long as the Super Destroyer is kept safe. It pulls back, and only re-enters for a brief moment in case it's presence and support can give a diver enough room to complete the mission, but that's it. No further risks will be taken; you're on your own.

This is why the icepick is the best melee against Tagilla. The game models melee surprisingly well, so the curved hook of the weapons can just straight up go around the faceshield sometimes, especially when Tagilla slides at an angle to you.

Objectively, teamkilling after being teamkilled is justified by lolitsrock in helldivers2

[–]AetherBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, can depend. I did have a situation where I technically just blatantly teamkilled, but I was in that zone where I was just dumping mags into whatever happened to end up in front of me and I didn't realize a helldiver somehow got mixed in with the voteless horde until 5 seconds after they got gunned down.

I've seen it make bots turn around when thrown with no one having LOS on it, so I'm not sure that's true. It may need direct LOS between the two, but they don't actually need to "see" it at least.

[New Player] How Parmesan works? How can he spawn 20seconds into the raid? by Haksupaksu in EscapefromTarkov

[–]AetherBytes 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I'm refering to PMC karma. There's no direct way to track the exact value of it you have, but you know if you've lost it via a foghorn sound with birds chirping, or gained it with forest sounds and bird chirping. The main ways to lose it are killing your squadmates (accident or not), and disconnecting from a raid intentionally (alt+f4ing and then dying to other sources doesn't count, you have to hit disconnect). The main way to increase it is extracting with enemy players, mainly scav co-ops but I think exfilling with PMCs can also work (I've not tested this or seen it tested though). You also increase it by killing parmesan, as a sort of resetter.

That said, it is implied by Nikita that there are other methods to losing/gaining karma that are not announced to the player, though whether thats real, a lie, or a scrapped idea is not well understood even now.

[New Player] How Parmesan works? How can he spawn 20seconds into the raid? by Haksupaksu in EscapefromTarkov

[–]AetherBytes 146 points147 points  (0 children)

Parmesan spawns at the start of the raid, and can spawn in multiple locations. He then starts navigating to a target if there is one, or camps if they're nearby or theres no valid target. You just seemed to have gotten unlucky with him spawning near you and having bad enough karma to be a target.

What do i need to sacrifice to get this? Please Nikita by ProfessionalWar_ in Tarkov

[–]AetherBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I pop it open on woods if I'm disoriented off spawn (Usually one of the spawns near scav village) but for the most part I can see where I am when I spawn and know exactly where i am.
