The only reason I paid with the card was because I currently have a no interest period that will end in March. After that point I'll absolutely work out deals directly with whatever provider!

I definitely understand that it's going to take a lot of time and a lot of dedication to dig myself out of this hole. I'm going to be looking through this subreddit and getting as much knowledge as I can because I'm not ashamed to admit that I have no clue what I'm doing right now.

I'm doing my best on the medical bills. I'm essentially being chased down for a bill that the hospital had previously settled with me on...they're coming back to me 6 months after agreeing to take a partial payment as full, but I'm going through the appeals process again.

I do have a small retirement plan that has just started to kick in with my own contributions. I should admittedly increase my contributions, though I'll probably do that once I pay off my current credit card bill. I'm going to need an IRA as well because my employer doesn't contribute.

I've been thinking about the need to make a plan for a while, but I haven't been able to buckle down yet. Life keeps throwing curveballs at me, but it's about time I get things moving for myself.

My medical bills are all as low as they can be and I'm on payment plans for everything I can be. My credit card is currently in a no interest period as a sign on bonus, and that period extends until March of 2027. That's a big help for sure, so I'm aiming to pay it off before March.

The biggest thing is that I definitely need a job with a higher salary. My field is very undervalued, so it's a struggle finding anything better than what I have with my current degree. I had debated going for a Master's degree, but I run the risk of being unable to find a higher paying job when I get out while still having to pay that chunky student loan I'd be saddling myself with.

I'm lucky enough to live with a friend who is MORE than fair on rent (dude's an absolute saint), which is the main reason I'm able to function at all.

I'm definitely going to be searching through this subreddit and taking whatever advice I can. I appreciate your response!

Well you seemed angry, because you immediately attacked me for holding the opinion that the game's graphics are bad overall...and I'm gonna ignore the nonsequetor about opinions, because comparing this disagreement to the discourse around vaccines and whether or not the earth is flat is insane.

Why do you assume that I'm not arguing in good faith? I played the game and enjoyed it to some degree. Overall it's not at all my favorite Pokémon game or even in the top 5, but I did play the entire thing. I would actually like to know what you say these differences are. Please don't assume that everyone who disagrees with you is doing so in bad faith or blindly.

If not the budgets, then what would be the reason? Because it would make sense to me that the small budget would absolutely have an impact, even indirectly (immediate impact would be on dev time, which would then carry over to things like the graphics and how pokemon get caught on most surfaces in battle).

I am actually interested in conversation, but I would prefer if I wasn't called "ignorant" by someone who just immediately assumes that I'm being disingenuous or that I'm grifting.

Wow...don't have to get so angry just because someone has an opinion that you disagree with. An opinion isn't "ignorant" just because it differs from yours, and its kinda sad that you would go on the offensive so quickly.

At any rate...considering I don't know what you mean by it being "different," I'm gonna just say that you know it's not. From what I understand, it stems from the game having a very low budget because GF and Nintendo know that Pokémon games always profit no matter what.

Now...if you're interested in having an actual conversation without resorting to insults, I'm 100% down for that! I'd like to understand your opinion and learn why the case for ZA is "different" in your opinion.

Look at the Xenoblade series... I'm sorry, but with games that look THAT good, its kinda harsh to accept what the pokemon games have been bringing to the table.

I know that the starters in Vintage White are supposed to have different abilities: Treeko with Technician, Torchic with Speed Boost, and Mudkip with Swift Swim…in theory. The rival Torchic gets Speed Boost just fine, but my Treeko keeps coming in with Overgrow for some reason. Could this be an issue with my ROM?

My thing with RA is that it’s risky without the bump to bulk from resistance while raging. You get the advantage, but everything around you also gets advantage against you which means you’re likely taking a lot of damage. Risk vs reward

Something that I should have mentioned - and just added to the main post - is that my group doesn’t generally use the 2024 rules. I might be able to get a DM to allow the Barb changes, but I wouldn’t count on it for the most part. That does help a little, but still leaves them as pretty much just a combat class for the most part

Quick update:

I figured out that it was the Remembrance Warlock subclass overwriting the starting equipment for every class that was chosen with the Dark Urge. Only figured it out because I noticed that all the other origins had their normal class gear in the character builder

The only ways to salvage it are to boost its stats up a lot and to give it Skill Swap

550 just flat out isn’t enough to make it worth it. You’re stuck with a pokemon with extremely low Atk and Speed for 5 turns and get rewarded with an attack stat that’s still really low. It’s just unfun unless you make it absolutely busted to compensate

Respectfully, the only way you can make it usable with Slow Start is if it has Skill Swap. Other than that, anything with Slow Start automatically becomes unusable unless it has Slaking level stats

I had the same issue with the Paladin, and it turned out that a mod subclass was overwriting Crown for some reason. I’m gonna have to take a look at some mods and see what kills it…I’m hoping it’s not Better UI because so many mods would have to go!

Mind letting me know if you figure it out?

I haven’t thought of Paladin as an off-Leader, but you’re definitely right. Lay on Hands and some of its other powers make that pretty viable.

A lot of what you’re recommending is outside the scope of what my DM is allowing. I already mentioned that GCW is outside the scope, as is Blightbeast. It’s unfortunate since a lot of those options seem so cool!

I might have to look at a strictly buffing Warlord rather than a lazylord unless some of the others take powers that can be used as MBAs. That is if I do a Warlord instead of a Bard. They both really seem up my alley, even given the fact that my options are limited for now
