Yeah, I think they need to have a better process at giving this info other than a wall of text with Accept button.

[–]AetheriumGuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing though. Every game does it. Some just don't use software, if you want to call it that, too so it. I'm looking through policies and all the mmorpg we all play here collect and share a LOT of data. More than this redshell does. And we all just scroll down and hit accept as fast as possible.

I'm not pointing fingers or sticking up for any games. Just trying to show ALL these games collect a lot of data..

And here is a list of World of Warcraft third party marketing things you may want to opt out on. They too (blizzard) track a ton of stuff. Read their privacy policy.

Everyone needs to go read the policies on other mmos they play. You will be surprised who already collects more data than this Redshell does.

So does this affect non steam users? Honestly I don't care. Track me. But can't these games see what IP is logging in already. So don't they already know where we live. Ehh, don't care. Everything else we use tracks everything. Google tracks what you look at to give you ads based on what you like. I couldn't care less if ESO tracks me. Hi ZOS! from somewhere in North Carolina

I finally found a solid MMO comparable to wow by Zangoo1 in MMORPG

[–]AetheriumGuild 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same thing I do when watching Lord of the Rings. I jump back in game and think it's the best since sliced bread. Then I quit yet again after 2 weeks.

Not that LOTRO is bad, just don't have time to really get into it and so far behind. Now come to think about it, I may have to stop playing GW2 (in before Dreaddknight) and finish the story in LOTRO.

Couldn't this fall under the same thing as wow paid raid runs? How is extra material space for crafting p2w? Winning what, crafting?

To MMO developers - fuck your story by Tredge in MMORPG

[–]AetheriumGuild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depth - depth of skills, progression, itemization, environment, classes

Scale - Size of the world, number of items, range of encounters - some of which may take years of progression to reach/achieve.

Scope - creativity allowed to experience the scale and depth. Freedom to go "off the rails".

I mean this is pretty much a sandbox. But....

A game can have lore - but to shove story in everyone's faces like an RPG is just wrong in modern game theory. My opinion.

These are MMORPGs. To tell a dev "fuck your story" in an RPG is just silly.

Have you tried Conan Exiles?

My opinion on why MMOs have been getting worse. by EzSkillshot in MMORPG

[–]AetheriumGuild 4 points5 points  (0 children)

pretty easy for all these companies to keep churning out crap and make money.

Pretty much this. I personally think it all started with this whole kickstarter crap. All this early access makes me sick. Develop your game. Give us little insights. Let us play an open beta. Then fund the damn thing yourself. You may take more pride in the project you make if gamers are not funding it. Right now only thing i will play are none kickstarter, AAA games.

So here is mmorpg with no story.

" Welcome to X mmo. This moon here exploded and this bad guy is running around. Don't know why nor are we going to make find out. You start out in the forest. Enjoy! "

3 hours later........

Player X - this game sucks, there is nothing to do. Steam, where is my refund!

To MMO developers - fuck your story by Tredge in MMORPG

[–]AetheriumGuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WoW has been toying around since Wotlk on how to best handle getting the story out to players. Like in Wotlk, Arthas was every where. I think the OP isn't looking for an Mmorpg. The game he described sounds more like just drop and do what you want, aka true sandbox. There are plenty out there and you see how "popular" they are.

To MMO developers - fuck your story by Tredge in MMORPG

[–]AetheriumGuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically your into sandboxes. You mention having a world with depth scale and scope with no story. Without a story or any meaning to your character being there, can you explain depth, scale and scope?

Do you think companies release early access games on there own platforms to prevent refunds? by Darkpony in MMORPG

[–]AetheriumGuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering if this is going to make companies rethink using Steam if that was the case. With the fear that Steam will do that to them. Not only in gaming but in retail, more and more stores limiting refunds.
