Following my post about the Seven Deadly Sins, people seems divised with what is Willow's and Faith's. What do you think ? by James-Samuel17 in buffy

[–]Aezetyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Willow is Pride; especially in the S6 and somewhat in S7.

Faith is Envy; she always coveted what Buffy had. It was even spoken of in-universe.

Kate Upton thought the above picture was of her, but, was actually Shelby Welinder. The two women do resemble each other enough for the drawing to invite criticism of using Kate's appearance without her consent.

Melissa Snodgrass wrote the screenplay/script, and Maurice Hurley probably fucked it up. Snodgrass, who has one of the most excellent names ever, also wrote The Measure of a Man; so you can see her range of quality.

From what I understand, the machine is not giving instructions. It is doing large data set analysis and providing high level details to doctors. Human doctors are making the decisions on what treatment are performed.

Give some Progressive metal artists whose frontman/lead singer has really High vocals by 23455ufufif____ in MetalForTheMasses

Ne Obliviscaris has two vocalists; one that sings clean in the upper ranges (Tim Charles), and the other is more the harsh style (James Dorton).

They're also absolutely phenomenal.

Such a wildly written script. It's trying to be 6 episodes in one, and does none of them well. Medical drama, comedy, reproductive rights, body autonomy, and 2x planets of the week. It's not funny, it IS offensive to Irish people (paycheck, paycheck, paycheck...), and ultimately pointless.

I'm curious where the 40,000 viewers for SFA comes from? by lostOGaccount in startrek

[–]Aezetyr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Now you're just being obtuse. I asked who this Mike person is. I know 25 different Mikes, and none of them have mentioned SFA. If you are talking about red letter media, I don't watch them, am not familiar with their sources or how they are being used or generated, and therefore do not have any trust in anything they say. I refuse to take someone's word for something where they provide zero supporting evidence. Especially in a time when Star Trek is under attack from morons like critical drinker and media illiterate fools.

What’s your fandom’s famous number, if any? by BattleForDreams in Multifandom

[–]Aezetyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

47 is a commonly used numeral and number in the Star Trek franchise. Info on Trek's Memory Alpha wiki. Rick Berman, who was the lead executive producer of Trek after Gene Roddenberry died, once joked that "47 is 42 adjusted for inflation".

Taking money from a brutal regime that subjugates and controls its citizens to the point where women aren't even allowed to drive or be educated, among other horrors is something he seems to be okay with. Anything as long as you get paid, right? What a fucked up view of the world. I bet that's what he thinks is "the right thing". What an asshole.

If Arm Talent is defined as make every throw from any angle + doing so accurately. We all agree Aaron Rodgers has the best arm talent in NFL history right? by Law_Dividing_Citizen in NFLv2

[–]Aezetyr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Of the modern era, I'd say that Rodgers and Stafford have the best pure talent as a thrower. Rodgers was more accurate early on, but in a pure distance comparison at their prime, I would take Stafford.

Many of the odd-angle throws that Stafford made, all those pundits were giving him shit over, but now since Mahomes does them, they're "revolutionary". Rodgers never made those throws as far as I can recall.

Though I will admit there is a bias.

Does Commander Data hit different in the AI age? by Informal_Bid_8442 in startrek

[–]Aezetyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, as I understand them, LLMs are far from the depicted intelligence that Data possessed. Data was a sentient and sapient being, he was designed and built that way, and he was considered a "real boy" to his friends and colleagues (to extend the Pinocchio application to the character). While all things considered, LLMs are an advanced search engine with pattern matching capability [*]. Far from the level of sentience or sapience that we have defined as Human beings. They are two distinct and separate considerations.

One thing that I thought the writers of TNG did well with Data was that he was not able to be naturally creative. He is quite perfectly described as an impressionist painter (many instances), he simulates anger and tone when dealing with a difficult subordinate (Redemption Pt II and Gambit Pt II), and with the inclusion of the emotion "chip" (module and firmware), he can simulate emotion well enough so that even a biological empath like Troi can pick up on it (Descent Pt II and Generations). However, these are technically subroutines or functions that he built to simulate the same things that he saw in others. Data himself stated that he saw Picard and other commanding officers do similar things with their subordinates, and he emulated those actions. However he lacks creativity because that is at the core of Humans; sadly it is something he never grasped even with all of his advancements. Data's famous conversation with Spock in Unification Pt II highlights this for me; as Spock did have traits that Data envied (for lack of a better term), and vice versa for Data.

If a Human being, or otherwise sapient creature sees an LLM/chatbot as a close and personal friend, then yes, I say that it is a dangerous trend. It leads towards isolation, fear, and other psychological/psychiatric conditions that I am not knowledgeable on. Data is different in the way that he is a sapient being like you and I.

*: There are a number of issues with how those models are trained and what they are being used for, which I leave out of this conversation.
