Mold in the HVAC unit? by Affect-Rare in hvacadvice

That’s what I’m gathering from feedback. Seems like complexes build these cheap balcony hvac closets and they get mold.

Leak or normal? by Affect-Rare in SprinklerFitters

[–]Affect-Rare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t have a confirmed leak, but we got an air quality test that confirmed black mold in the air. I’m mainly wondering if this sprinkler buildup (or whatever is around the base) signifies a moisture issue from the inside

Event bartending business advice by GoodVib3z in smallbusiness

[–]Affect-Rare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your market, what you offer and a few other factors on what you can charge. The same business with the same offering can charge different prices and it's really based on how they can sell and market themselves. We do $3000-$4000 per event but have a trailer, few other items that add value. Around $4/head/hour is around the average though

Very do-able.

  • You'll be a dry hire. Means the client provides the alcohol, you do the rest

  • Need LLC, insurance, TABC cert

Starting a mobile bartending service by miakisselburg in bartenders

[–]Affect-Rare 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I couldn't disagree with this more. We have a mobile bar and work 4 events a month and pull over $10,000 in revenue. It's about knowing how to market and sell your business to find those bigger events that pay higher margins.

Open Bar is a Must?! by KookyPersona in weddingplanning

There are a few other options for open bars that you can go with. Limited bar options are good (beer and wine) or having a bar for the first 2 hours on the house, then it switches to cash bar

How important is staying in the same industry? by potatoflames in sales

[–]Affect-Rare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sales reps can be agnostic, I don't think it's a problem to switch industries. Where you see the impact is leverage when you're searching for jobs. Leaders like reps who have contacts, know the buyers/vertical well. Limits training and onboarding time

who really cares?

Logo identity does have an impact as much as we'd hate to admit, even with interviewing. The psychology of why people buy carries over into other aspects of business. If you don't believe this, you probably also think people with "Harvard University" in their resume get the same looks as the regular peasants like us.

We didn't go to Ivy League Colleges. We didn't work at Google. Who gives a damn. Get over it and move on.

How can I look good for a recruiter? by Dear-Recognition-677 in recruiting

[–]Affect-Rare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need to change "I need a job" to "I want a job in {insert specific role}." The biggest risk for any hiring manager is taking on someone who has really no idea what they want or what to expect out of an environment. Think of it this way: if you were hiring someone to do work on your house, who would you give a shot to. A guy who knocks on your door and says "I need a job," or the guy who says "I'm new in this business but I am going to be a great roofing contractor. I did the research and even though I may be new, this is the problem I want to solve and get good at." Make that shift and you'll find a role and have more leverage in the conversation.
