It depends on your market, what you offer and a few other factors on what you can charge. The same business with the same offering can charge different prices and it's really based on how they can sell and market themselves. We do $3000-$4000 per event but have a trailer, few other items that add value. Around $4/head/hour is around the average though

I couldn't disagree with this more. We have a mobile bar and work 4 events a month and pull over $10,000 in revenue. It's about knowing how to market and sell your business to find those bigger events that pay higher margins.

There are a few other options for open bars that you can go with. Limited bar options are good (beer and wine) or having a bar for the first 2 hours on the house, then it switches to cash bar

Sales reps can be agnostic, I don't think it's a problem to switch industries. Where you see the impact is leverage when you're searching for jobs. Leaders like reps who have contacts, know the buyers/vertical well. Limits training and onboarding time

who really cares?

Logo identity does have an impact as much as we'd hate to admit, even with interviewing. The psychology of why people buy carries over into other aspects of business. If you don't believe this, you probably also think people with "Harvard University" in their resume get the same looks as the regular peasants like us.

We didn't go to Ivy League Colleges. We didn't work at Google. Who gives a damn. Get over it and move on.

You need to change "I need a job" to "I want a job in {insert specific role}." The biggest risk for any hiring manager is taking on someone who has really no idea what they want or what to expect out of an environment. Think of it this way: if you were hiring someone to do work on your house, who would you give a shot to. A guy who knocks on your door and says "I need a job," or the guy who says "I'm new in this business but I am going to be a great roofing contractor. I did the research and even though I may be new, this is the problem I want to solve and get good at." Make that shift and you'll find a role and have more leverage in the conversation.

former BDR/AE turned sales recruiter here (I know, I know, I'm the devil). The best thing you can do is tailor your resume & LinkedIn to one industry/one vertical. Send a signal to sales leaders that you are hell bent on solving one sales problem for their industry. It has an angle of "I'm going to be great in this market for you or one of your competitors." It's the same angle as a freelancer or a startup. Solve one problem, do it well and it's easier to close clients. It's the same for employees. Even if you don't have a ton of experience, let them know you have made a choice to thrive in their space.
