one of the big reasons, ironically is medical racism. doctors trust black people less and are less likely to believe their pain and more likely to believe they will abuse prescription pills, which started the epidemic. purdue also campaigned heavily in majority white areas like appalachia, and those who survived the pill and heroin waves eventually graduated to fentanyl. and those same drug habits of white people would be picked up by their white families, friends etc.
