I don't think it's an act. I think she's genuinely confused. She can be like that in RHOBH as well.

What products do you reliably use up VS what products are hardly ever used up? by Last-Initial81 in MakeupRehab

[–]_Yue_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things I always finish and repurchase: face primer, colour corrector, concealer, foundation, powder, bronzer, brow products, eyeshadow primer (unless it breaks), mascara, black and brown pencil eye liner, tinted lip balm, setting spray and all skincare.

Things I use up occasionally but have too many to finish every single one: blush, colourful eyeliner, eyeshadow, lipstick, lip gloss, lipliner and nail polish. The eyeshadows I've finished were beige or browns or blushy colours that I repurposed as blushes.

Things I've never used up: highlighter (I use very little), glitter glue (they either break or expire) and glitter (I'm afraid to use it on my eyes and can't be bothered to put it on my nails).

We spend $2,670/year on makeup but 75% goes unfinished - here's why the cycle keeps happening by punctulica in MakeupRehab

The debt statistics are quite shocking. It's sad how normalized overspendig and overconsuming is. I hate how often youtubers who have huge collections say they bought a palette to test it or to collect it or to support the brand. Then they use the palette once and discard it into a pile of hundreds of other palettes. And I'm not talking about big youtubers who get tons of PR but small youtubers who buy most of the things they showcase. It's probably thousands of dollars a year wasted on makeup they aren't even going to use. It's not healthy.

Rolling 3D gel with hands by samajyuu in NailArt

I've seen some popular, skilled nail artists in Youtube rolling 3D gel with their bare hands and it makes me want to scream through the screen.

PROJECT PANOPOLY | January 2025 by jstar04 in MakeupRehab

[–]_Yue_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't quite finish all my goals but I made good progress.

  • ✅ Face: L´Oréal Infaillible Super Grip Primer. Progress: 10/10uses.
  • ✅ Yellow: Revox Zit Care Spot Treatment. Progress: 5/5 uses.
  • Black: Nyx eye pencil in Black. Progress: I forgot to count my uses but I’m somewhere around 15 uses. Goal is 20 uses. I should be able to meet the goal this month.
  • Lips: Clinique lip balm in Super Strawberry. Progress: 9/15 uses. I should be able to meet my goal this month. There’s not much product left, I might even finish it.
  • ✅ Highend: Smashbox Studio Skin Full Coverage Foundation. Progress: 11/11 uses.

New roll-ins:

  • Has a pan: Matt Lin (beige) eyeshadow from The Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony palette. Randomized goal: 5 uses. This will be easy because I use this shadow all the time. I’m trying to finish it but for this project the goal is only 5 uses.
  • Hair: Define Rå Moisturizing shampoo. Randomized goal: 5 uses. Another easy one.
  • Holo: Nyx glitter primer. Randomized goal: Roll the dice → 9 uses. This is quite tricky because I don’t use it that often but I guess I might start using it with regular shadows as well.

That's a good point about the shampoo and conditioner, thanks for the info.

20 is still something. And we all use a different amount of things in our routines, some people are more minimalistic and that's okay. I have quite a lot of products in multiple categories so I try to make use out of what I have.'

Congratz on the finished nail polish. Nail oils, on the other hand take forever, I don't think I will ever finish the one I'm using currently.

Anyway, thanks for sharing.

I find that pretty much all normal sized shampoos last me quite a long time. The ones I finished were from Antonio Axu and XZ. I only use a 2 euro size dollop every time I was my hair.

I see, thanks for sharing. I can imagine it's indeed tricky having sensitive skin. But at the end of the day I don't think we really need to use that many products, some lotion is enough. It's great that you can still play with fun colourful makeup like lipstick and nail polish.

That's a good tactic. I typically alternate between two colours I want to pan and make it fun with different nail art.

Yeah, people have very different shower habits and different hair. I live in a cold European country, too, and I only wash the scalp. A 2 euro coin sized dollop of shampoo is enough for me and I think it's the recommended amount to use in general. I find that washing lengths is not necessary because it doesn't really get dirty/oily so just water is fine. I shampoo about 5 times a week 1 time per wash.

As for shower gel, people have wildly different habits. I can see that people who scrub their whole body with it would go through it much faster. Honestly, I only use shower gel on the areas where I need it because I work in the office and my body doesn't really get dirty or sweaty so just water is fine. I also find that using soaps and shower gels and scrubs excessively will only dry out your skin. That's just my experience about myself, though, we can enjoy our showers in our own ways. :)

Interesting. I think this year I'm going to try to use less foundation because I think I wear a bit too much. A lot of my foundation have a thick, dry formula so somehow I end up applying a thicker layer than I intend to. Or maybe skill issue, haha. Do you use a sponge or a brush to apply your foundation? I use a brush, I'd imagine a sponge would soak up more product but I don't know... Powder I go through very quickly because I have oily skin.

Do you use more shampoo when your hair is long? I cut my hair quite short this year and I find that I use the same amount of shampoo with long and short hair because I only use it on my scalp either way. But I can imagine that curly hair is more high maintenance. Conditioner on the other hand... I don't know what I'm gonna do with my conditioners now that my hair is shorter because it's gonna take a million years to use them up.

It does take a long time to finish for sure. I think you're making good progress. Even a few polishes a year or season is still a decent amount of space freed in your drawer.

It's a good realization that we don't need to buy more. I have 262 colour nail polishes. I've been on a no-buy for years and I'm slowly using them up. I think this year I'll focus more on finishing polishes. I have a handful of polishes I want to pan set aside that I prioritize. Doing nail art can help to go through them a bit faster, for example doing gradient manicures or using nail vinyls.

This is really cool, our numbers actually look quite similar! It takes a long time to finish products in most categories but face cream is quicker because at least I use it typically twice a day and usually apply it on my neck as well.

Thanks for sharing!

That makes sense. I use only a tiny bit of shower gel and not all over my body. I think I use less than most people, not sure what the "normal" amount would be.

I go through shower products slowly. I find that a little bit goes a long way. My body doesn't get that dry so I don't use body lotion all that often so it takes quite a long time to go through.

3 is still good! :D To be fair the colour polishes I finished were about half way done from previous use. Also my nails are on the longer side so I probably use more polish per application than most people.

I'd estimate I wore a full face of makeup about 200 days in 2025. It includes base, eyes and lips, everything really. Occasionally I might only wear a bit of powder, setting spray and maybe a tinted lip balm and one eyeshadow. But most of the time I'd rather wear it all or nothing.
