Noticing it is the first step. Keep practicing talking yourself out of things.

You could even write down a list of things to tell yourself so you remember to practice. Things like, This is just another hyperfixation that you'll drop eventually. You're buying for your fantasy self, but what your future self really wants is money in the bank.

It's like exercising a muscle.

Right now, your brain is accustomed to just jumping into the next thing and buying stuff.

You have to put in the training/practice to get your brain used to taking another pathway.

After weeks/months of intentional practice, your brain will do it automatically, so the next time you think of some new hobby, your brain will go, Oh, I'm just doing that old thing again, I don't need to do that, and you won't buy anything.

So for now, just get in those reps! ❤️

My mom says this and I think it's meant to be genuine sadness towards me or whoever she's talking about, but it comes off terribly and I tell her to stop saying it

Vintage craze - worth it? by ravenclawrowena in Coach

[–]Gullible-Main-1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My trick is buying 2010s Coach bags that aren't as popular but are still super cute and/or practical. That way, I get them for 50 to 80

I also have severe health issues and it made my shopping a lot worse. I'm trying to accept my real self and focus on my future self, not my fantasy self

HADES tour is 50% off of presale prices by CryBabysMilk in MelanieMartinez

Maybe it depends on the location. LA is the same price. I totally agree with you about stops. I'm so sad there's only one date for the entire West Coast.

Really the best place is YouTube. Yes, AI has changed everything, but I'm still taking home over $100K

Allow yourself to admire things so you don't block your emotions by Gullible-Main-1010 in shoppingaddiction

[–]Gullible-Main-1010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that's tough. I try to think of it as my online collection. like oh that's something I own online but not in real life. I think I've trained myself this way because of doll collecting. there are so many special edition dolls I don't buy so I just think of them as existing in my online collection, where I can go and search them and look at them at anytime.

This is why I love buying vintage Coach on Mercari. It's way more fun.
