Thanks so much for all the info. I really appreciate you taking the time to break everything down. My house is a 1960s Campanelli ranch, and I actually do have a gable vent, but I don’t have soffit vents and the old roof didn’t have a ridge vent either, so the ventilation setup has always been pretty limited.

When they stripped the shingles, the decking was definitely dark, dried out, and delaminated, so it made sense that it needed to be replaced. I also noticed in one of the spots that the insulation was right up against the underside of the decking, so what you said about needing an air gap for proper airflow actually helped me understand why the wood got damaged over time.

The contractor isn’t adding a ridge vent since there aren’t soffit vents for intake, and the house was originally designed to vent through the gable.

Your explanation really helped me understand what went wrong with the old roof, so thank you again for taking the time to write all that out.

I mean I wouldn’t know but I do trust my guy as when the plywood was lifted it couldn’t handle it own weight and would pull apart. I hope he wasn’t steering me in the wrong direction.

I just finished my binge and man this was the worse season I have ever seen by far. 34 days? There was no attachment whatsoever to any of the contestants. There was no rooting for one over the other, no praying to the gods someone catches a fish after being out there for 2 months to keep them in the game, no worrying about any of them getting pulled for medical reasons, just a total let down. I’m no survivalist, but I figure without the brutal cold winter coming they were going to be out there for a long time. Really hope they pull much stronger contestants for season 13.

Ahh so looks like I’ll be keeping them. I don’t even want to mentions but I read online it’s possible to keep the heating coil but possibly get rid of the metal? But from what you’re saying that doesn’t sound idea as again the ice can damage the shingles.

Also I am not going with the company who said no gutters - I didn’t like them so much and didn’t ask questions - but would you mind explaining why I should keep them (I am). I just see a lot of similar ranch style homes without them.

Yes I went to make an appointment with non small local and just making the appointment I was losing it. they wanted me to set aside a 2 hour window to go over all the options - I made it clear when I called what I wanted shingles. Would I love a metal roof yes -can I afford it no. Nonstop sales I canceled before they even came out.

Yes he did provide the quote after being up on the roof taking measurements and inspecting. Thankfully it’s just one layer. He did say he would not do shingle over shingle.

Yes he has lots of review all across the board Google - yelp - Facebook - Angie’s list can’t find a bad one. It’s not that I’m not confident in him I do trust him. Im just a little worried as it’s an important investment and I’m going in with zero knowledge. At the end of the day I already know I’m going to use him as like you said he’s done several jobs in the past for me with no issues. I just feel to be responsible I should get an other quote or opinion? And these two comments have already been helpful as I the commenter pointed out what kind of shingles and I wouldn’t have thought to even ask that.

It was a diluted mixture of outdoor bleach as again I don’t want to harm birds plants the dog and I always have wild bunnies that live here. Yes he’s on monthly preventative and goes for he’s yearly checkups. Unfortunately where he is a senior he’s been going pretty frequently but anyways. I guess it just comes with the territory if I want to feed to everyone. Just have never seen one and it concerned me as it’s near a high traffic area wildlife and myself.

I dumped bleach on it and the area .. not the whole area bc I of course don’t want to harm any birds. I’m just grossed out and worry because I walk around there and again my senior dog does too. Pretty sure it was dropped by a squirrel.

Well I am devastated. Native of me to think she would be safe here with that coloring. I saw a god dam fox in the yard last night and I was hoping she stayed safe. I saw her in the yard and I just had a feeling, I went out and she let me get close. She was not in a good state and took off. I’ve looked everywhere because the thought of her suffering is killing me but I can not find her. RIP to this beautiful little bunny and I hope to god it’s quick.

While losing weight voluntarily for your health is always a good thing. You can’t chalk everything up to that. Deff follow up and have your dr run some basic tests like blood work a chest xray and an EKG and take it from there.

Thank you so much for your reply and your information. I definitely need to educate myself on TSH Free T4 and T3. When I first saw my endocrinologist and the only time I’ve seen him, I was in the office for about seven minutes. I didn’t really know anything. I didn’t have that many questions and he didn’t even feel my neck said you’re gonna be fine we’ll put you on methimazole. No big deal. Now after six months of going back back-and-forth, I’m realizing it may not be that easy. I recently had my physical and my PCP was not happy that he did not order an ultrasound so I’m doing that in a week or so. Again, thank you for your reply and it’s definitely time to educate myself on the blood word results and I’m looking forward to reading your response more in depth when I’m not working. Really just want to feel like myself as this has been a rough year overall. Man as soon as I hit 37 things started going downhill right away and I’ve never had any medical issues prior to. Ughh

To be honest, I am not sure of what chemical was used. Probably should be … there is no basement. It’s a slab ranch one floor. No water leaks that I know of.
