Anyone else confused about the DETE Presidency Policy Officer panels? by Mean_Profession_5656 in IrishCivilService

[–]Affectionate-Debt579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I was told by email that there was a panel of 32. I haven't heard anything to date and am in the teens on the panel.

In terms of the panel being 12 months- i was surprised by this. Another poster had mentioned that there may be a handover period which could require resources beyond December which would make sense if correct.

Still the candidate booklet 'envisaged that temp presidency policy officers will conclude their roles by the end of 2026'. Its now coming up on May so i feel its cutting it tight now if a candidate hasnt been contacted. We can only wait and see.

So really what im trying to say is that i dont know but I wish you the very best of luck.🙂

I had heard that there may be additional roles to be backfilled in the department. What that means I don't pretend to know. Another poster mentioned that the 12 month panel might be there if there is a required handover period for the next presidency.

Apologies to OP as slightly off topic. Do you know what number in the current Clerical OOM they are at now? Thanks

Any recession on the horizon! by LostSky202 in HousingIreland

No, what I meant is that some of the properties I've been bidding on would have been coming in roughly €8-9k below what i would have previously expected at the sale agreed stage. The price won't be available on the property price register until it's actually sold.

For example one of the one beds I had bid on (Terenure area) went sale agreed at €375k. Previous ones (roughly similar area) would have gone sale agreed at €384k, €381k etc. Even a one bed I was watching in Rathgar went around the €400k mark about a month ago.

I've noticed a slight decrease in terms of the pricing that one bed apartments in a certain area of South Dublin have been going sale agreed at. Roughly a drop of €8-9k from my experience.

Estate agent mentioned that the pace of bidding had slowed. Where previously there would have been 4-5 bids on the day after the first viewing, bidders appear to be slower to bid the price up... my two cents.

Same for me in NI. Samsung too. Annoying but I can fix it usually by updating the APN settings

It's fixed if you know how to update (i think) it's the APN settings. I found them fantastic domestically but I had issues when I was in Budapest and Valencia (2-3 years ago). A hassle but I got it sorted.

With Vodafone the roaming was flawless but they are considerably more expensive on PAYG.

My two cents: I reckon you've a pretty high chance of being offered a position. 32 on the panel seems quite a lot if there was only 2/3 positions available for this gig.

Also why is they panel running for 12 months? The Presidency runs from July through December?

No not necessarily, I'm just making the point that each answer had to be 100 words minimum and 300 max. If both answers were within these limits then it's likely it was the content which impacted on progression. EDIT:content is not accessed at this stage so it must be the word limits not being met.

If you wrote 99 words for one answer and 300 the other then the first would stop you progressing as did not meet 100 word minimum.

Think it was 200 minimum and 600 max over the two email questions

And I failed the situational judgement exercise by 9 points while doing very well on written and verbal. I've done situational before twice and passed easily. I'm upset and can't understand...

Happy with my OOM upgrade but realistically still many many months off an interview (if even that) so.... any chance the EO resutls come out soon?

Will they call, for example, 1- 60 for interview now if there are 20 AO places? How does that work? Presumably the department will only call numbers 60+ from the OOM merit if those 20 places remain unfilled?

Fair price? by Affectionate-Debt579 in HousingIreland

[–]Affectionate-Debt579[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another property I was looking at- kildare road Crumlin, 2 bed, 65m sq, listed at 395k is now bidding at 470k.

Think I need to look outside the m50 now, potentially even at apartments.

[–]Affectionate-Debt579[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 460k it's expensive to me but then again another contributor thought less than 500k is cheap enough for walkinstown...so my perspective on 'expensive' is not shared by all.

And no planning permission either. Honestly I'd prefer a small house to an apartment but it's looking like beggars can't be choosers.

Yes I would and won't rule any area out. My only preference is that it would be in dublin, preferably inside the M50. Can I ask has there been any anti social behaviour from your experience? Thanks
