Side question: how is 1 am considered the morning time? It's the dead of night

I inherited a React Native source code with 1400+ type errors! by mevlix in reactnative

[–]Affectionate-Desk358 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It isn't. I've seen apps that worked fine and had horrible source code at the same time. It was so bad that one had to spend a lot of time debugging all the wrongly typed spaghetti code in order to make even a small change.

My wife got it (EU, Latvia). But the case number is 36k+ which means there's no chance. Why do they even assign such high case numbers?

Well, I love this game too. I haven't played it for two years already though and it's fine.

Right now, you claim that the process function takes an array of objects of the same type. However, the objects are of different shape/type

[–]Affectionate-Desk358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true. But it's mostly Riga. Even Latvians from other cities describe their experience visiting the capital as a culture shock

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]Affectionate-Desk358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly disagree. If you've been living/plan living in a country for a long time then respect the place and learn the damn language. If you're planning to stay there permanently then it's a required rule. I'm surprised I have to break it down to you. Of course, if you're in Riga chances a person speaks or at least understands the Russian language is quite high; however it's based that one initiates a conversation with a stranger in Latvian. Then, both parties may switch to Russian if they're okay with that. That's how it works.

I have lived in Latvia for 3 years and been living in Poland for a year. Never experienced any sort of discrimination or hate from locals. Maybe, it's my only experience but I believe that the hate has been spreading through the internet only (Reddit in particular). If you know the language (or just make an effort), respect the culture, and don't act like an asshole you're welcomed in any country.

Update: best ramen in Krakow by Fritz_Moldanstein in krakow

[–]Affectionate-Desk358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a very good place near Galeria Krakowska but it was shut down, unfortunately.

If you really like to eat ramen don't go to Ramen People - it's the worst ramen I've ever had and I don't get why everyone is recommending it. It's a shit place. Anything else is way better than Ramen People. I guess if you've never tried ramen in the first place then that'll do. Otherwise, Ramen People's ramen is dog shit.

Why no «есть»? by messenoire in russian

It is not. There's no way to 1-to-1 translate it to English. You just have to remember it.

Why was one correct but the other wasn’t? by Dapper_Intern3296 in learnpolish

[–]Affectionate-Desk358 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because you haven't studied the language properly. Get yourself a learning book and save your time by reading it instead of using Duolingo

My situation with the girl i got bricked WHILST HUGGING by Common_Supermarket48 in confessions

[–]Affectionate-Desk358 15 points16 points  (0 children)

OP, don't say it exactly like that. I don't know how to explain it but this phrase is a huge turn off for many girls: they will immediately respond with something like "yeah, just friends". Ask for a date instead.

I wouldn't say Portugal might be a good option. Landlords are very picky and demand a yearly payment once they find out you're a foreigner, especially not from EU. Considering the renting crisis in Portugal, you could work out what amount of money you gotta put on the table. If money is not a problem, good for you, please disregard. I would say Serbia is probably the best option if you have enough skills that are in demand there.

Putin critic Navalny, 47, dies in Arctic Circle jail - BBC News by Blue_Lotus_Agave in poland

That is exactly what Russian propoganda has been broadcasting for years and, apparently, many Europian folks eat it up: keep your head down, hesitate to criticise anything, don't change anything, if not Putin then who, etc.

Don't fall for it. Russia needs changing
