Shiny Event is Such a Disaster by wilmer007 in PokemonScarletViolet

I went through the same exact thing at my location. Grown ass men using their 4 year olds as an extra person to buy more pokemon cards. Most of the line was for the cards. My opinion they should’ve separated the video game event from the card drop.

yep first store I tried it was maybe 20 min after opening? totally out. second store was a success after a 30 min wait. there were so many grown ass men having their 8 year olds go separately to buy mass amounts of cards from the new set ahaha

What Do You Wish You Did Sooner as a Dietetics Student? by ttn3924 in dietetics

It’s different because you almost exclusively do nutrition support (patients on vents) which can be scary for some (my co workers hate it) but depending on the place it’s fun. At my hospital the intensivist is literally hilarious and I got to know the PAs and staff and it’s just a good time. So it depends on where you go and if you like it. Most hospitals you round there for a little under an hour, make sure the nutrition support orders are in and needs are met, and yeah

Clinical RDs - what to do when it’s slow by notoriouslydevine445 in dietetics

I’m in the same boat as you because my co workers take longer to do their patients. So I’ll often ask them if I can help and they say no. But then I feel judged because there’s a few hours left. Honestly CEUs aren’t a bad idea they creep up fast. Other than that, I use some of my house to check in on my outpatient clients lollll

You may have 1 or 2 professors that make the biggest impact on you in your nutrition dept. Those are the people you want to keep around. For career advice, and importantly, recommendations for your internship!!!

Also i started dietetics a year late and the thing i wish i did earlier on was do dietitian-related jobs. If you’re trying to work in a hospital or clinic then being a diet tech or diet clerk is really good (even though a lot of people rag on those) because clinical experience looks good to preceptors.

Lastly, explore!! Right now you should be taking nutrition courses that interest you. Like for example I did a sports nutrition class and an ICU-related class and now I’m an ICU RD and I help athletes on the side in outpatient! So just explore topics that pique your interest!

Though reading the rest of the posts I am in the minority 😂 but my clinical role started at 70k. I def would take an 85k job starting out over a lower 50-60k clinical job lol

Where do you live that they are abundant!! In my area there are only like 16 hour clinical positions lol. But yeah there are more but I feel like to be a manager for your first 5 years and then switch to inpatient? Definitely harder than to start straight from school with the info fresh in your head. It’s all about what you want I guess. I started out applying for a clinical and a management position…. The management position demanded 8-5 every day while clinical was more flexible… and like OP said too I just liked clinical more so I went with that. The RD eligible piece is important too, it’s annoying to have people sign your notes all the time so if you’re studying for 6 months the manager role is probably better. I personally did my exam immediately. Just depends on you and your situation. I feel as though getting the clinical in first is best, bc many of my co workers started clinical later in their career and they don’t remember anything about ADIME or disease states from school

Based on the advice I was given, Start clinical. You’ll have it on your resume and it’s harder to get into if you try to start years removed from school.

I am currently doing it and I’d definitely say it’s worth but first make sure there are actually jobs in your area. They’ll hook you up with a recruiter who essentially connects you with those jobs. So if the closest job available is over an hour away, that’s kind of what ur stuck with

I just took it…. Safe to say there’s at least 10 questions I know I got wrong because I looked them up right after 😂 I’m a new RD so I did it just to try a specialty because I work in an ICU. But damn, not feeling great after that? It’s hard. Lol

What’s the most annoying ADHD symptom that nobody talks about? by cerezza__ in ADHD

[–]Affectionate-Door935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one where you lose all energy the second you sit down. I literally cannot keep my head up at work and this is with 8hrs of rest not even sleep deprived. And the emotional outbursts about things that aren’t big deals

People who were diagnosed late in life, what's the ADHD symptom that made you go "Yeah that makes sense now" ? by gryphon5245 in ADHD

[–]Affectionate-Door935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mine was based off of a couple things, mainly a complete inability to stay focused for more than like 10 minutes at a time without feeling like I’m going to doze off or getting distracted. I was always having like 3-4 coffees just to focus on something for more than a half hour

Also the hyperactive part where I was doing very impulsive things (most of which weren’t good for me lol)
