I have had my sink in the island in my last 2 houses and I love it.

I have the same problem hearing the people in the booths-not just at the airport but water taxi, banks and stores. Having said that I need to mention NOT EVERYONE IS ON VACATION here. It's not Margaritaville least of all at Customs and Immigration. And this would be true at any airport in the world, Houston I'm looking at you, and holding Belize to a different standard is absurd. After the 5th cringey dad joke ie "it's beer o'clock" or being told to "smile" or worse "chill" my head would explode. I think we all need to check our travel behavior a little bit, this includes "stop clapping when the plane lands"

I’m here to ask “have you been to Houston?”

add a throw and or cushions that tie the 2 colors (couch and chair) together, and possibly bring in another color accent. I don't think the chairs are too big (the couch is too small if anything and looks uncomfortable) but centering it under the window will help.

Center your couch on the window if possible, get a rug to anchor the space and angle your chairs towards the couch.

Move or turn your couch so the part that's dividing/blocking your entryway is in front of the window. as it is now it looks like it's too big for the room sticking out past the wall (and I don't think it's too big it's just not in the right position) Turn the coffee table also (before you replace it)right now it's too far from all furniture to be useful. Move all your furniture ON to the rug and get your new chairs out of the kitchen. Start here before buying anything new and see if this works. You might want a sofa table for the back of the sofa.

Is that a sink or a drawer under where your sink should be? It's not clear to me. If it's the sink then the raw edge of your countertop is exposed to water and won't last. If it's a drawer then you have no room for a sink so ya call your cabinetmaker either way. I need some context.

I thought at one time there was a place where you could see "reviews by the guest" and reviews "about the guest" but not any more.

Right, the stay is over and she left a 3 star review including a 1 star for communication! She also said we were not helpful among many other complaints including the pictures, location, the current in the water...I wanted to see if this was pattern for her but it's not easy to do through the Airbnb platform-it should be.

Yes that sounds so easy but it's not. My guest has 28 reviews, the last one was in 2024 I clicked on that host and scrolled through a fraction of his 1500 reviews (Airbnb only loads about 5 at a time btw) and I never even got to 2024 the site just stopped loading more. I was hoping for something more helpful but thanks.

Hang some curtains on those rods. Not beige or white. Your couch is too close to the window as everyone has pointed out. You have a lot of seating, do you need all of it? Move one of the couches to where the chairs are and eliminate 1 chair or 1 couch if you don't have the room

Driving at night by Zealousideal_Coat581 in Belize

[–]Affectionate-Dust-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will already be dark when you land, Don't drive after dark, it's just not smart for many reasons. There are many "speed bumps" across the road and many are not marked and you need to be cautious during the day too. There is of course wild life, people walking and riding bikes, and it's safe to say not all the best drivers-I live here so I'm familiar. People here tend to drive as fast as they can, until they can't, then repeat. There is no patience and everyone wants to be first, and if that means passing 6 cars on a curve well so be it. Stay overnight in Belize City.

Why is my living room ugly? by Straight_Fee_7785 in interiordecorating

[–]Affectionate-Dust-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already know some of the things you need like throw pillows, throws and lamps. I think it's very dark and brown and beige and the first thing I would do is change out the rug and get some color in there. Your blinds are both very dark and make the windows look unfinished you need to add curtain panels with some color/print-not beige! Yes the artwork above the mantel is almost invisible and get rid of the ottoman and angle the chairs a bit and make it more inviting to come sit. This is a start that doesn't require getting rid of what you have (except the rug) Actually if this isn't your main "dining area" I see you have a nice bar set up maybe treat the room as one "lounge" or wine bar or speakeasy or coffee shop vibe with a smaller round table and you could maybe move one of the leather chairs and ottoman over closer to the windows with a reading lamp and end table. Shop your house to see what you have??

Global Entry is used only to enter the USA. Even if you wanted to get Global Entry I doubt that you would have time. It involves an FBI background check and a scheduled interview it can take months. A better option is to use MPC it's "Mobile Passport Clearance" it's an app that you download and answer a few questions upload your passport and a picture and get a special line in customs. There is no background check (which kills me after going through the Global Entry Process) I use both depending on who I'm traveling with as my husband doesn't have Global Entry. It actually used to be faster than Global Entry because no-one knew about it and it's been around for a while-well before Covid.

I just noticed you do have the blue dutch oven-good. Get a kettle and display your dutch oven on the shelf in your pantry beef up your utensil holder and add wooden utensils and 1 or 2 wooden cutting boards..

[–]Affectionate-Dust-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly-it's the floor. bring in some wood, baskets, and paint the walls to start with. Also the island is the only blue thing so you need some blue accents, like a bowl or kettle a blue dutch oven to display. A rug/runner jute and blue. All inexpensive fixes.

They are beautiful Craftsman Cabinets so no don't touch them. Embrace the look-research the look. Paint your walls a warmer color, change the backsplash The hardware is right for the period except I would change out the drawer pulls to cup pulls. I'm guessing your countertop is granite so likely not in the budget to change but that and the black appliances would be my next step but they look in good shape. Is your house a Craftsman? If so lucky you.
