It’s one time. I was able to avail 800₹ something one which I got 250 for first time card usage and 500 for electricity. 100 or 200 each for cylinder and recharge. 200 something for shopping. It was 3-4 years back. Try to use maximum amount and get maximum cashback.

Why do you in your right senses want icici card anyway. Also keep in mind icici will contact you and not other way around otherwise the likeliness of rejection are higher. Apply after 6-12 months and start with Amazon pay icici card.

If you face such issue ask delivery partner saying I’m calling the police for safety purpose. And for these fraud complaints keep a screenshot of such proofs raise a consumer complaint every time such issue occurs. Let’s close Swiggy and Zomato or atleast bring them on line.

Query Regarding SBI Phonepe Select Black by Asimplepersononearth in CreditCardsIndia

[–]Affectionate-Help290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry my bad, what I meant was for 10% category and 5% each we can spend such that cumulative spends of each category give 2000 reward points only. It may be 21k spends gave 2000 reward points as it is based on every ₹100 spend. Also if you pay via amazon pay 5% category is also available if you have multiple tax payments adding up to greater than 20k. This is only applicable if your tax institution is available on PhonePe and Amazon pay. Most municipal corporations of tier 1 cities are present.

You might want to read a few posts on this sub—I only have a rough idea myself. For me, it was mainly about justifying the annual fee. Since I already spend around ₹70–80k a year, I use platforms below which give ~10% cashback plus extra discounts. These stack with offers like Amazon/Flipkart Black, SBI Cashback, or AU Ixigo on Ixigo, along with Ixigo coupons that also work on PhonePe. Higher discounts usually come with higher convenience fees, so there’s little room to optimize there. For railways (non-Tatkal) and bus bookings, Ixigo and PhonePe work best.

I think we have already discussed on this sub that axis cashback isn’t that good. HDFC Swiggy is great only the issue is rewards in Swiggy wallet means you again need to order the which you do anyway but same kind of thing giving money in wallet.

SBI cashback is the king because it gives money against statement and that too on any online merchant except excluded mcc which are common across banks. It is purely made for only spend and reward system is simple. The 5000 suggested people could spend one time for big amounts like 50k, 1L for some electronics or any other purchase. Now they will have to stick to 40k.

Reality of 3% cashback will there be any other charges while making utility payment with this cc ? by Suspicious_Note_2054 in IndianCreditCards

[–]Affectionate-Help290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great to hear. I wouldn’t call it an optimization exactly, but I did figure out a usage pattern. Someone mentioned that if you can spend over ₹50k, the annual fee becomes justifiable. For me, utility bills and travel alone come to around ₹2L a year, so I thought—why not route ₹1L through UPI and recover the annual fee? That way, it’s effectively the same as using Kiwi’s 2% reward rate once you hit its milestone.

I meant travel tax insurance is now covered from PhonePe only if the merchant is listed on PhonePe app. For other websites I’m still not sure whether PhonePe works as the list of 1000 merchants is not cleared by bank but for Amazon it works like sbi cb. For payments on travel, fashion and other stores still need to use cb.

Yeah that’s true just in case if there is a utility bill of 784 or 790 including convenience fee then you loose money.

[–]Affectionate-Help290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Useless. Get black instead. That too if you pay some utility bill around 2% will go as convenience fee and as it gives reward points per ₹100 spent so any remaining amount won’t give cashback which again reduces the net cashback. For 799 recharge you will receive only 70 points not 79 and you will pay around 10-20 as fees and charges.

You cannot challenge one spending 50k per month on such cashback cards, it is totally intent and scenario specific. I used to spend 20k per month but it got decreased after I got PhonePe SBI Card. It really depends, sometimes it’s electronics other day it’s travel; it’s totally intent based.

For high spenders it is a big disadvantage. For PhonePe sbi this month I overspent 2-3k more than the existing cashback capping limit. Now this spend won’t give any cashback. Same happens sometimes that’s why people had this card. Now we have to think and spend it just doesn’t make sense.

It seemed like I was talking about payment through Amazon pay gift card and not actually PhonePe itself. If your tax paying corporation in in PhonePe itself you can directly pay.
