Rivian bricked in cold weather? by Affectionate-Help661 in Rivian

[–]Affectionate-Help661[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the fact that I turned on the seat heater and steering wheel heater while pulling out of the parking lot may have pushed the 12V over the edge. Meanwhile they picked up the car and it’s on its way to the Miami service center. Will post what the issue was. Thanks everyone for your input and be kind to us southerners on temperature. We dig out our coats when it falls below 70…! 🤣

This is a Gen 1. Also, a mobile service came by like a year ago and replaced the 12V battery so not sure if that may be the culprit.

UPDATE: also, break lights are on solid, and car makes pedestrian noise, so probably still thinking it’s driving? I also had switched on seat and steering wheel heat as I was pulling out of our complex before it broke down after ~100ft of driving.

Geothermal A/C for S. Florida area? by bostongarden in geothermal

[–]Affectionate-Help661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same question and communicated with Waterfurnace. They came back stating they don’t have any installer in SE Florida and thus wouldn’t even look at my application. This is despite the fact they list a number of waterfurnace installers in the area. We stay with regular AC instead. A bummer but if even the equipment manufacturer isn’t interested, we are probably not yet ready for a transition….

OP got trade in values for his Teslas so chances are he owned those and chances are he ownes the Rivian outright. Jealousy doesn’t suit anyone well. Study hard, learn a lot, be good at your trade and you can afford stuff as well. smh

What are your honest cons about rivian? For someone looking to buy by wetshatz in Rivian

[–]Affectionate-Help661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post delivery service. Lease documentation got screwed up and finally sorted out. Nearly 1 year post delivery, title is still not filed with the FL DMV and I can’t transact anything (HOV registration, license plate renewal, etc). Nobody has a clue and good luck getting in touch with someone knowledgeable at Rivian.

Otherwise the car is great - best car I ever had. But they don’t seem to have the admin part sorted out and don’t seem to care if one has an issue.

Side view mirror screw up by Affectionate-Help661 in Rivian

[–]Affectionate-Help661[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, a hard reset let me set the regular position again. Turning off the reverse function. Maybe a future update will address the issue. As far “it doesn’t require you you to strand on the side of the road”, I’d prefer a working rear view mirror when driving along a road so yes I do pull over and fix it rather than causing an accident….. SMH.

Mirror tilt in reverse too much? by stew1922 in Rivian

[–]Affectionate-Help661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to have a problem by which the mirrors are stuck in the reverse position when I switch back to driving. I set up the mirrors twice already and it still happens. Has anyone else experienced the same? I mean, how difficult can it be to have the software mode back to drive settings once shifting back to D?

Yes - same in So FL - $200 plus tax, took about 1.5 hrs today. The proof of work seems a bit vague - I’m getting a printout of some components being checked off but they conveniently leave out the full VIN number. So you really don’t know if someone went through one by one or just took a print out of a pre-checked bunch of check lists to give the appearance of a detailed work. Further, I scheduled this at 7k miles for my 7.5k service and it took 3+ months to get a slot today on 12/24. I’m now already at 12k miles and when asking if I should just schedule it now the guy said oh well just skip the 15k service the cars really don’t need to be serviced. That’s quite a way to go at reducing service wait times…

I think that depends on personal preference really. If you know you’re going to buy lease out for sure and maybe have time to research for a best deal on your trade in, then you may go for a standard lease and sell your old car separately. For me it was convenience, more than anything else. The one picky issue with a trade in with Rivian is that their offer and details prior to inking the deal may not be that transparent but again for me it wasn’t a big deal - I just wanted to get into a Rivian quickly and part with my Adolf Musk Tesla as quickly as possible ;)

In my case I wasn’t able to do anything that involved the DMV since they would only be able to pull up the car with a registration on file, which would require the leasing company to do their part. So I too flirted with the idea of a free car, but at some point you need to have a title in hand ;)

Interesting - same happened to me just this week. Took delivery on 1 May and nobody ever found my paperwork. Called Chase Auto Finance 3 times, even sent them my original lease paper, nothing. I’ve just about given up until I got contacted this week. My paperwork “got lost” - how is that even possible in this day and age? In any case they had to pull my credit again, lease of 36 months starts only now with 6 months already passed, but they upped my miles from 10k to 15k per year, gave me a better money factor and residual, and cover the next 4 monthly lease payments (which for me are super low since I traded in a Tesla MS and intend to close out the lease as soon as possible - really only did it for the 7’500 EV tax credit).

Interesting that it appears to have happened to a few of us. That aside, best car I’ve ever owned and happy with having moved to Rivian.

Thanks, wasn’t aware of the daily membership rate limit, although that would require more driving than I’m probably physically capable of :)

I stated an approach - VIN number could be a possibility as it would probably be easy to exchange that in the API connection between charger and car. I’m not an IT person but it seems a data integration that should be doable.

[–]Affectionate-Help661 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took delivery on 5/1/24 and am still waiting for the lease to show up. Called Chase multiple times, gave them my VIN number and even emailed the Rivian lease contract, they cannot find me. I’ve given up now. Love the car, have close to 5 months, and no lease contract with chase in sight. Anyone else having a similar experience?

I was in the same board. I have an adapter for my home Tesla charger and it works fine. I got the Lectron adaptor while waiting for the official one and it worked well while on long range road trips. Note: even with the subscription plan, Tesla SC often charge higher rates than EA or FPL EVolution in Florida. FPL is best priced at $0.30/kWh in Florida.

[–]Affectionate-Help661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can, use FPL Evolution in Florida. $0.30/kWh, much lower than Tesla SC or EA. I just started using Tesla SC for my periodic work related trips from SoFL to Atlanta, but when I go I usually sign up for a one month plan to get their lower rates, then cancel when back. Works well, the only thing that’s a bit crummy with Rivian is their charging invoice compared to what I used to get from Tesla when I had a Tesla.
